I just got a call on my cellphone from this number. I didnt pick up though, I thought I'd google the number. I called that number back on a land line and it was some Russian guy picked up. I told him I got a call from this number so I called back. He said that this is a telephone company. He didnt give the name and seemed confused as to why I got a call from them. He didnt seem to know too much about the company or he was just not saying anything to me. Maybe its a telemarketing scam.

I get calls from this clown about monthly since I added a new business phone line.  You all might want to look at this:Telephone Consumer Protection Act 47 U.S.C. § 227(b)(3):(3) PRIVATE RIGHT OF ACTION.—A person or entity may, if otherwise permitted by the laws or rules of court of a State, bring in an appropriate court of that State—(A) an action based on a violation of this subsection or the regulations prescribed under this subsection to enjoin such violation,(B) an action to recover for actual monetary loss from such a violation, or to receive $500 in damages for each such violation, whichever is greater, or(C) both such actions. If the court finds that the defendant willfully or knowingly violated this subsection or the regulations prescribed under this subsection, the court may, in its discretion, increase the amount of the award to an amount equal to not more than 3 times the amount available under subparagraph (B) of this paragraph.Also:(5) PRIVATE RIGHT OF ACTION.—A person who has received more than one telephone call within any 12-month period by or on behalf of the same entity in violation of the regulations prescribed under this subsection may, if otherwise permitted by the laws or rules of court of a State bring in an appropriate court of that State—(A) an action based on a violation of the regulations prescribed under this subsection to enjoin such violation,(B) an action to recover for actual monetary loss from such a violation, or to receive up to $500 in damages for each such violation, whichever is greater, or(C) both such actions.State law is not preempted by this code, which means you can also bring an action for damages for invasion of privacy under state law if you state so allows.

I get these calls to, about once a week, to my business in Incline Village, Nevada.  When I call back the numbers (530) 205-9116 and (530) 205-9515 they never go through.  However I called (530) 205-9164 and I got a voicemail message from Mike and Pam Hallet.  I left a message with my name and number and asked them to call, sounding like I was interested in their business. If/when they call I will tell them to stop calling my business, and if they don't I'm going to file a complaint with the FCC.If everyone called (530) 205-9164 and left a voicemail message, I think they'd get a clue.

I too receive calls on my work number from 530-205-9261. When you call that number it rings busy all the time. They leave a callback number of 530-205-9116, and when I do a reverse lookup, it is owned by a Mike Hallett of Grass Valley, CA. I am looking to see if he owns or works in a local carpet cleaning shop, as KC Carpet Cleaning does not show up on bbb.org. I suggest we all call this number often. I am adding it to my cell phone speed dial, which I call when wasting time in traffic, at the DMV, or while at work. I hope you will join me in what I consider a measured response, to this awful tactic.

I get a call from this number every evening about 6:43 PM. I have just added it to my reject list. Its just a shame that the Democrats are doing this, it will cost them support for letting this kind of crap go.  I have already voted, however I have decided that after today if I get just one more call from this number, I will never vote for another Democrat. And if the Republicans start the crap, I'll vote for one of the other parties. I'm fed up the this crap.

Called about 7:30. Answered because it was "WIRELESS CALLER." When I hear it was a survey, decided to play along. From the questions, it was obviously from the Democrats, trying to trash a local Republican candidate with biased questions. Finally told that I had voted for the Republican just this afternoon (a true statement). Now I'm glad I did.We are on the do not call list. These people are so stupid! Here are a couple things to remember. One; The "do not call list" only applies to solicitors. People that are not selling things, and are simpy calling with information, to do political polls, etc. do not have to abide by the "do not call list". You will have to tell each of these companies to remove you from their list, and hope the telemarketer actually clicks the right part of the screen to keep you from being recycled into the list. Second; Most of the political polling in this area of the country is done by Eton Marketing. They are located in Fayetteville, Arkansas during political season & often disappear once the large political races are over. They are run poorly, hire poorly, pay poorly, and treat their empolyees like not much more than something they just scraped off the bottom of their shoe.Next time they call, immediately ask to speak to a supervisor. Inform them that you are well aware of their company's (mention the company by name) pracitices and that if they do not remove you immediately from their calling list you will be forced to take other action against their company (again, mention the company by name). If you really want to make sure that you never appear on another one of Eton Marketing's calling lists, mail them a cease and desist letter (delivery confirmation). Then you have all the proof you need to go to the Attorney General's office if they continue to contact you.Eton Marketing908 E. Rolling Hills Dr. Fayetteville, AR 72703(479) 935-8163President/CEO: Bill Kremer I know all of the above information because I was foolish enough to work for them for a short period of time because they allowed me to create my own hours to work around my kids' scehdules while I was a single mom just trying to keep us going.

479-387-4246

20 Report Long ago Unknown
This is a political "survey" which, from the leading questions, is obviously just a political call for a local Democratic candidate, I have a policy of voting against any candidate that engages in spam calling, so the Republican is getting my vote in this race. (If both call, I keep a tally, and vote for the one who called the least. Devious tactics like this count as two or three calls.)Smart candidates would use the do not call list, even though they're not required to.

I'm sorry but they just carried them out and put them into a Hurst ... Is there something I can do? (Them) NO! I'll call them tomorrow!  Rudely hangs up ..Apparently she never got the hint, but oh well.  When they call back I'll tell her they are busy having sex with a horse or something and don't want to be disturbed.  Idiots I tell you they pay no attention to what you say ...   Well have a good one and Allen I'll take you advise and not do business with them.

I've already blocked 4 numbers they have used to call me in the past and now here's a fifth.  Doesn't matter if you tell them not to call or even block their numbers, they continue to call and use various numbers to circumvent your system.  And because I'm a business the joke of a do not call list prohibits businesses from registering phone numbers.

20 Report Long ago Unknown
some of these calls come from overseas so our DO NOT CALL laws can't touch them.  Or, if here in the USA, they don't give a sheet until you report them to your state's Attorney Generals office to file a complaint. My state Missouri is very aggressive at get large financial penalties from these creeps, but they can only do that if YOU who complain here contact your state's AG office.  Also if you live in an all RED state (ie lots of Republicans) you may not get much help as these AG tend not to care about small business people or individuals getting harrassed.

In recent years, third party debt collectors have been buying up old debt for pennies on the dollar and telemarketing collection calls to debtors to get what they can from their "investment". This old debt is sometimes legit, sometimes not (expired statute of limitations for example). In parallel, scammers have also been making extortion calls using bought/stolen/phished loan data, sometimes to debtors who may or may not have already paid off their debt, sometimes to random people, while pretending to be legit debt collectors. Problem is, both employ similar tactics to scare debtors/victims into paying legit/fake debts. If you don't have debt, you know for sure your caller is a scammer. If you have debt, you have to figure out whether it is a legit third party collector or a scammer -- not a comfortable position to be in but here's how you can perhaps tell the difference: The FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf treats the INITIAL CONTACT between collector and debtor (first call, first letter, first whatever) as a special event. Legit collectors per section 809 of the FDCPA *must* tell you at initial contact, or send you paperwork within 5 days of initial contact, the following: 1. $amount of debt, 2. name of the current creditor (which may differ from the original creditor who might have sold your debt), 3. a statement that that debt will be assumed to be valid unless you dispute in writing within 30 days, 4. a statement that that if you do dispute in writing within 30 days, the collector must mail you written verification of the debt, 5. a statement that if you ask the collector in writing within 30 days, the collector must send you the name and address of the original creditor if it's different from the current creditor. If you don't get the 5 disclosures, orally or in writing (you do not have to ask for them, the FDCPA requires collectors to provide them), treat the collector like you would any SCAMMER. Note that 3,4,5 must be done *IN WRITING* so you will need to ask an address from your collector. If s/he refuses to give you one for any reason, treat the collector like a SCAMMER. The collector can threaten court action at initial contact but the FDCPA requires that the collector actually take you to court if the collector threatens it. Threatening court and not going through with it (coercion) is illegal. If they say the FDCPA does not apply to them because they own your debt, the debt-owner exemption only applies to the original owner. A 3rd party who buys the debt for the purpose of collecting debt is treated as a debt collector and not an owner and must obey the FDCPA as explained in this FTC Staff Opinion letter here http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fdcpa/letters/arbuckle.htm You can tape phone calls per your state law described here http://www.fairdebtforconsumers.com/Recording-Laws-Summaries.html You can tape, then sue collectors (google "fdcpa attorney") for violations described in sections 805, 806, and 807, per section 813 of the FDCPA. Has the statute of limitations for your state http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/SOL-by-State.html expired on your debt? If expired, don't pay. Collectors generally have to be licensed by your state to practise (collect debt) in your state and you can find out by calling your state Attorney Generals Office. Ask if a license is required and does this collector have one. If not licensed, don't pay and file a complaint with your state AG. For what it's worth, I haven't written a physical check in many many years, and I find it unlikely I have anything like this out there. I will be recording my phone conversation with them, so we'll see how that goes.

That this a an extremely time sensitive matter and I need to call her back at once at 855-695-1305, ext 315. First of all I have already been a vicitm of a scam once, so I'm extremly cautious now. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize; refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number; asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency. If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you. Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing. Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name. Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt. Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.> http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt076.shtm

At this point, I play along and give them crazy answers, such as that I am a Jedi Knight and I am employed by Jobba the Hut.  These scams all seem to originate out of Virginia Beach, Virginia. So that you are more likely to answer their call, they spoof caller ID so that it looks like a number from your local government or legal office.  They buy old and delinquent debt and use internet location services to locate people who are friends or family of the person they are trying to collect old and delinquent debt from.  They can't legally collect using the court system on debt that is old and stale so they try to scare people into paying - and they tack on usually hundreds of dollars for their commission. The law requires they mail you a Debt Validation Letter.  If they refuse, tell them to kiss off.    You could also tell them to send the process server (they NEVER do) and you'll be waiting to be served in the company of your local law enforcement.Another thing that gets them is if you tell them at the beginning of the call that you are tape recording to keep them honest.  They typically hang up the phone real quick and you never hear from them again!Have fun!

Got her VM, left a very detailed msg that I don't know who they are or what this is about but if it has anything to do with any type of debt I require full validation of that debt, and verification that they debt was made by me before I discuss anything with them further. That I have been a victim of a scam previously and am doing what I had been told to do by the Attorney Generals office. Also stated I did not appreciate the call to my elderly mother when I myself have no idea what this is about.

Got that message before - everything they are doing points to scam.  Bottom line - if they show up at your work, don't give them your ID, don't sign anything, don't accept paperwork.  If it comes from the Sherrif's department, then it's probably legit.  Otherwise, they can ask until they are blue in the face.

Received voice mail from a "John Pike" for Mariner and Associates. Claims I owe money for a payday loan.  I have received several calls from a few companies since I have been sending out my résumé out for a new job.  He had my SSN wrong, my email wrong, my birthdate wrong and yet he still claimed I was the right guy. At this point, I play along and give them crazy answers, such as that I am a Jedi Knight and I am employed by Jobba the Hut.  These scams all seem to originate out of Virginia Beach, Virginia. They threatened me with a court summons and coming to my place of work.  The original call number was blocked. The voicemail left the (855) 695-1305 number. It's all a played out scam that is now just a joke.

We also got a call from them at work, looking to do collection services for our company.  We don't have any collection issues and told them so. Caller only wanted to argue this point and insult.  When asked for their contact info (so that we could do business), caller refused and escalated the harrassment. The guy has now called several times, even after we asked him to quit calling and told them to put us on do not call list.  Now we just hand up and are reporting to BBB and Atty Gen.  These guys have a piss poor business plan and harrass because they probably have very few customers.Caller: Ranger FinancialCaller Type: Collection Agency Reply

Don't hold anything against an electrical contractor. These guys target the electrical industry, and they come off at first as a respectable business with good ethics and a moral compass that is pointing in the right direction... THEN!!!Your local electrical contractor was simply trying to take an approach to collect on a debt and probably had no idea that Ranger could be such a horrible outfit.

We got a call from them at work, looking to do collection services for our company.  We don't have any collection issues and the boss told them so and that we don't need their service.  The guy has now called several times, even after we asked him to quit calling.  Just now he called so I tried leaving him on "perma-hold".  I went back and he was still there.  When I answered and said we weren't interested, he started saying some extremely perverse and sexually explicit things, refering to me and the boss.  If they use these tactics on people they want to "WORK" for, I can't imagine what they'd do to people they are collecting from.  It's not a shock that we would never use them to represent our company.  I hope some big buff man finds him and does to him what he said to me on the phone... might take him down a notch!  Who in their right mind would choose this company for debt collection?????

Jules:  they also tried collecting for our company, They don't use any collectors to go out to the business. Its all done by phone and threats. Further investigation shows that, "Ted Johnson", is really some guy named Mark Wolf in Texas. We told them to stop the process and Ted, aka MArk Wolf started threatening us as well. Come to find out this is a boiler room operation. What they don't know is our investigators found them with ease.

This is a collection agency named Ranger Financial Services in Richardson TX.  They use terrible threatning tactics, are rude, they try their best to scare you and make you pay what you owe immediately.  They will not work with you and they threaten to send the police to your home or business to collect the money.  They are an unethical collection agency.  They use the name Ranger because they are in Texas and think they are the best collectors.
