I too got a message from them saying they will call me again. After reading all the answers here, I decided to put them on my reject list on my cell phone.  I just choose not to be bothered with pests. Those of you with cell phones can do the same.  It is impolite to force someone to participate in a survey they don't want to participate. I just think they want to rape you of your rights not to participate in helping them to reach their misleading tactics. When I was younger and foolish, I was mislead by someone who was aiming to use me so they could make money and take it to another country. Thank God he opened my eyes and I was able to save my children from being kidnaped even though I had to spend 10 days in jail to prevent him from taking them to another country.  He even tried and still trying to turn my children and the whole community against me because he was not able to reach his goal. According to his ex-wife, she told me he uses his Catholic radio program to spread his hatred towards me. When someone is using misleading tactics to use you, just turn around and go the other way, even though some people never stop trying to use your children against you.  Advice from Mom and have a great life.

This is very good information.  However, by your company telling us exactly what the American public should say to be removed from any of these solicitation schemes is a problem.  If I ask your company to be removed from their call list in ANY way and form of speech, the company should comply.  In the first place, we did not ask you to call us---We did not ask you to obtain our phone numbers.  Therefore, why should we comply to your requests and the methods dictated by your company to be removed from your solicitation methods?  In addition certain states have laws against solicitation and I am surprised that your company does not perform this research first before even considering using random number dialer software.  Personally I feel that more strict laws must be created to make these kinds of calls illegal.

They can call LEGALLY until 9pm your local time. No later. And not before 8am your time. They have the same rules as bill collectors. I blocked all unknown numbers on my phone, so they never even get an answer, since they come up as "unknown number." And if I ever did answer their call, I am not listening to any of their insane drivel - I'll just report them.
Report by AJ duran Long ago Unknown
you are right it is misleading to a certain point, if they were to tell you exactly what the survey is about, than chances are more people would lose curiosity  and hang up. The words " we're interested in learning more about people with cell phones" (laughing as I still remember the intro) is indeed misleading, making people believe it's a survey about cell phone usage. On the other hand I can say it's structured that way to present it self as an "innocent package" suggesting that the study will pertain to certain aspects of that nature, but in reality is limited to the actual body of the questionnaire.  If they were to tell you that it had to do with politics, would you really want to take the time make up your mind and takes sides with whatever questions are asked, I don't think so and quite frankly I wouldn't want to get into a political study even if it was" unbiased". As far as the lateness of the call, I can tell you that "LEGALLY" we are permitted to call until 9:25pm in all 6 time zones. In some very desperate times grey areas may present themselves and a decision can be made to call a tad bit later that that.
Report by Chad Danglin Long ago Unknown
I don't know about all of that, but I'll take your word for it, since you say you have done this for a period of time. I was called on Sunday night at 9;45 pm. I was tired. The female rep sounded pretty pathetic reading her script, but it sounded innocent enough to participate. She told me this was a survey of cell phone usage. After her intro and collection of general stats, she launched into a questionnaire of today's political debates and how knowledgeable I was on particular topics. It seemed okay, but I later perceived a particular leaning to the way the line of questioning was going. At a certain point, I didn't feel like answering any more questions, and hung up on her. She tried to call back, but I did not answer. A couple of thing, what did political questioning have to do with cell phone usage? She did not tell me how long this survey would take. I felt the call was misleading. If I am called again, I will use your advice. Thank you for the post.

The compnay that is calling you is Princeton Survey Resarch. And yes you can expect to get calls on the weekends. How I know this? I used to work at their only call center in Stafford VA. If you are on the Do not call list, then you should know that it does NOT apply to surveys and charities. Your number was randomly generated in their auto dialer system. The software recognizes the first 6 digits of a certain area in the country and the last four are randomly spawned. so they end up calling businesses too. Same goes with cell phones. If you haven't already asked to be taken off their List, follow these steps, 1. Do NOT interrupt the interviewer during their intro, wait until they are finished speaking. 2. Say these exact words.."PLEASE DO NOT EVER CALL MY CELL PHONE AGAIN" or Land line,  but say it politely.3. We were trained to here these words, no matter how much you fuss and throw a hissy fit, if you do not utter these EXACT words verbatim, we will probably still end up calling you. The Interviewer is also required to convince you other wise, in an attempt to get you to do their survey anyway even if you already did step 2. This is called AIM. They will say something along the lines of " well sir/mam this is a very important study and we would greatly appreciate your cooperation  in this study today" ect. decline POLITELY again and say in a very nice tone," I appreciate you calling me I really do, but I would rather not participate, I understand you are doing your job, I just don't want to be bothered anymore, therefore i would liked to be placed on your DNC list." do NOT hang up after you say this, that will only make things worse, let THEM have the final word. ALWAYS say thank you have a good evening/day and make sure it was a proper goodbye BEFORE you hang up. Make sure that they acknowledged that you wanted to be put on the do not call list. I have worked for this company for several years. I know the frustration you guys go sometime being called 3 times a day for a week. But the reality of the situation is that these surveys actually do help policy makers make decisions based on the information they receive from companies such as this one.

You made a very good point. I got that number as my voicemail as well for ATT and I thought it was weird because I'm from Michigan and know that 586 is the area code for Macomb County. Of the 3 cell phone companies I've used prior, it was all my number that I dialed to get to VM so this caused me search the number thinking maybe it's not a "brand new" phone that they sent me! Well I got it on it's release date, so I hope it is new!

I don't believe I've received any calls from this number, but I did find it enabled as a custom number in my call forwarding options for busy and unavailable. When I tried changing it to my number (voicemail) it said I don't have coverage or the feature isn't supported. When I tried turning it off, it seemed to go through but when I look at it again it's reverted back to the number. It only seems to accept changes if I change the custom number to a different number than my own, in this case it is my VoIP number which is in another area code. According to a Google search, this number is apparently the official voicemail number for my network (AT&T) and area code, allowing access to voicemail from other numbers or directly leaving a voicemail message such as to a number in a different area code on the network. Calling the number from my VoIP phone confirms this, but I don't know my password off-hand so I couldn't get to my voicemail.I suspect it is possible that the unusual calls that people are getting from this number may be caused by people attempting to leave someone a voicemail through this number and entering the wrong destination number. If that's not the case, then I have no clue.

Have received 4 calls from 1-586-2165013. The person sounds as if he is at a Hospital and is reporting on the condition of a family member. He keeps giving updates on health condition. I thought it was probably someone with a wrong number. I tried a reverse search online and discovered that there are a number of people getting his messages. I have ATT Cellular but don't know anymore than this.My wife said that he refers to himself as Bob and refers to whoever he is calling as "Bobette" One report states, about Sherry,Hospice decisions between me and Mom. Have a room in "Venice.

Sadly I work in a Career Serivces Office and have gotten many calls from students that received this same message.  The person did not get their information from our office as they indicated and we are taking all steps to find out where they got our students information.  When you receive messages like this remember that the majority of legit businesses will use their business email so if it does not have the business name in the email (example @walmart.com) it probably is not from that company.  Any company that asks for money are usually scams.

I have also received this email and already replied. Once I read the second one, this whole thing appears to be a scam to me as well. Most likely these people are getting contact info from the systems used by colleges and universities. If your unsure whether or not this is a scam, you can go to the FBI website and report them. Usually you will get a response back from the FBI in 24 hours with an agent confirming whether or not this is a scam. At least they have responded to me in the past.

Caller was a woman with an African accent -  said she was from "Unified Services" and that I had won a $1000 internet shopping spree and an absolutely free vacation package. I just had to pay $1.95 for shipping. When I asked what "Unified Services" actually was, I didn't really get a clear answer other than the fact that it had something to do with travel agencies and shopping malls. She put me through to her supervisor, who was a man with an Indian accent. They were adament about the fact that this was a legitimite call and that they were not a telemarketing company. Who knows.
