This guy, Brian Taylor, called me NONSTOP!! So I finally answered him! He gave me a bunch of numbers like 716-200-499 and 904-222-8310... then fax numbers like 206-203-0067 and 206-337-8793. I was ready to give him $300 on Monday. But last time he said I owed $700, but as a settlement I can pay $300. I kept pushing the date on it because I wasn't sure about this. I asked him for my information all the time, he gave me my address and name, and I asked for what company and he said Cash Net, and then I asked him if he had my social, but he said his system couldn't be refreshed. So I was like, okay. But he called today, because I was going to pay them on Monday, and I asked him again for my Social, and he was like, that's not important and we are a real company!! I've taken out loans before through the internet, but I know I've paid them all. Then he said that they were in charged of all the Internet loan companies. It was weird that his name was Brian Taylor, because he was had an Indian accent, and his name sounded American. But maybe he was adopted. But he threatened me and said that they would take me to court and I would be fined $1000 if I didn't pay them back. So it was serious. I was about to send out a Fax that gave "Brian Taylor" authorization to take money out, until something in my GUT said to do more research. I found this website and another website, (http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/90422 ... qAjMBd7F9w)that stated that this guy was a scam. Thank you LORD for my gut feeling that this was fake!!

YOU FILED THE REPORTS CORRECT?   IF NOT DO IT NOW!!!  If you are targeted by these criminals, be sure to report them to all the following federal and state law enforcement agencies (most of which you can do online or over the phone):1) The U.S. Secret Service is responsible for protecting the country's financial infrastructure and payment systems from international and domestic threats. Call or write your local Secret Service field office to alert them to the details of this attempted extortion. The addresses and phone numbers for the local Secret Service field offices are listed at http://www.secretservice.gov/field_offices.shtml or in your phone book.2) Alert the FBI at https://tips.fbi.gov  Be sure to tell the FBI that you are being targeted by extortionists over the phone who are posing as federal law enforcement. Be sure to give as many details as you can.3) File a complaint with your local police. Most police departments will take a report over the phone.  Be sure to tell them that you're being targeted by an extortionist and give them all the details.4) File a complaint your state's attorney general, the contact information for whom is at www.naag.org5) File a complaint online with The Federal Trade Commission at https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01If these crooks call back, promise them nothing, pay them nothing and tell them nothing other than that you know they're a scam and that you've reported them to law enforcement. (And be sure to report them to all the agencies above each time they call you.)

I have received at least a half a dozen calls today, same outfit, two different people...on my work phone no less! The first was Jennifer McKenzie and the second was a man whose name I did not get. After I confronted Jennifer, the next three or four calls where from the man. He finally told me this was the Department of Crime Prevention. I'm thankful for this website because I was able to educate myself about these people. They are still calling but I am done with them. The first number on my caller id was 31107108942 which I did not answer and the message included a different number (716) 200-4992. All subsequent calls showed (256)665-9340. Pretty sneaky!

Thank you all for the clarifications, I will be sure to report this to my local law enforcement.

on august 25 2009 I received a phone call from Jason Hunt services claiming they were a fraud prevention investigation service and that I was a prime suspect in money laundering and they even gave me my own case number 006372.They also said they were filing my paper work in court at 11am on the 25 of August. They told me I would be arrested and sent to prision and they had all my personal information along with 2 of my friends phone numbers. They told me if I do not settle this debt by 12pm on the 25 that I will be arested and put in prision and lose everything. They would not tell me excately what company they were calling for but that it was a pay day loan company and that I need to take care of this debt. They also told me that Maryland is a zero tolerance state once they told me that I laughed at them and told them I will take my chances. The reason being Maryland is a zero tolerance state but that only has to do with drinking and driving nothing else.So if anyone receives phone calls from these people or this number just hang up on them they can not do anything it is a scam. Also if you live in Maryland in case you don't know if someone ever says that Maryland is a zero tolerance state that means drinking and driving nothing else.

I have very important updated information about this phone number and business listing. I have called this number several times in the past and always received an answer phase such as " Department of Crimes Pervention " today... I called the number again and this time they answered " Front Desk May I Help You " I told them that I was with the federal government and I needed to speak with there CEO. I was aksed to leave a message and someone will call me back. I was also given the physical address of the business: 101 Kingston Avenue Buffolo, New York 07001 and they also shared with me that they were a Debt Collection Agency. I had to take desprate measures to obtain somekind of information to work with. I will now report this information to the authorities listed in the last comments message. Remember this phone number is a Scam and a Debt Collection Agency trying to be sneaky about its collection efforts. Hopefully we can get them Shut Down! Don't call the number back and just hangup when they call you. Be safe!

Then when I finaly understood what he was saying he told me that I had a warent put out for my arest because of theft because I took out a loan from Check-n0Go and didn't pay it off so they were pressing charges against me and that I was going to jail till I went to court. http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-901-328-7180Judging from the previous reports about this caller, it's a typical debt collection scam. As the other reports indicate, this caller claims he's with the "Department of Crime Prevention"; there is no such thing. These type of crooks attempt to extort money from their victims with a myriad of false and illegal threats. They alternately pose as debt collectors, federal and state law enforcement officers, lawyers and bankers. And they use any number of phony official-sounding names such as US National Bank, US Legal Investigation Bureau, Hopkins Law Office, Morgan Associates, White Collar Crime Unit, Department of Crime Prevention, etc. They also crooks use caller-id spoofing software and/or VoIP to disguise their real location. And many of them are calling from overseas. One thing to remember is that anytime someone calls you demanding money to prevent your arrest, it is ALWAYS a scam. No debt collector (let alone criminals posing as debt collectors) has the authority to have anyone arrested for anything. (And it's illegal to them to threaten such a thing.) And since these dirtbags routinely impersonate law enforcement, it's also important to remember that American law enforcement officers aren't in the business of debt collection.  What's more, debt is a civil, not a criminal, matter. The bottom line is, these are criminals trying to steal your money. I suggest you do all the following (most of which you can do online):1) The U.S. Secret Service is responsible for protecting the country's financial infrastructure and payment systems from international and domestic threats. Call or write your local Secret Service field office to alert them to the details of this attempted extortion. The addresses and phone numbers for the local Secret Service field offices are listed at http://www.secretservice.gov/field_offices.shtml or in your phone book.2) Alert the FBI at https://tips.fbi.gov  Be sure to tell the FBI that you are being targeted by extortionists over the phone and give them all the details.3) File a complaint with your local police. (And be sure to report them to all the agencies above each time they call you.)By the way, here's just a few 800Notes links with reports about similar scams. Read the reports and you'll see the same pattern time and again -- phony official-sounding organization names, foreign accents (most of the time), and dramatic false threats of arrest and lawsuits.A consumer posting a complaint about these same scammers at http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-718-831-7157 notes that 718-831-7157 is associated with an India-based "outsourcing" telephone bank.  Though a reverse search on WhitePages.com shows that 718-831-7157 is an unlisted land line in New York City, information on Debtbuyers.Com shows that that number is used by India-based Intellisourze. (Source: http://www.debtbuyers.com/debtbuyers.asp ) My guess is that it's a VoIP phone number. This is another piece of the puzzle that fits in perfectly with other information about this scam. There are some reports on 800Notes that have suggested that the crooks behind this offshore scam are also the crooks behind the notorious Bass/Ellis Crosby & Assoc./States Predisposition scams in Florida and Georgia. The interesting thing is that the number of complaints on here about the US National Bank/US Legal Investigation/Federal Investigation scam skyrocketed *after* April 7, 2008 when Florida obtained a $1.3 million judgment against Ted Ellis Crosby, shutdown his operations and barred him from ever conducting debt collections in Florida (Read http://myfloridalegal.com/newsrel.nsf/newsrel ... 5257424005858A6 ) There's certainly a good chance that the crooks placing these calls from India are doing so on behalf of the American crooks behind the Crosby/Bass/States Predisposition scams. Here's the contact information for the phone bank in India:IntellisOurzE BPO701, Sapphier, Nr. INDIA.E-Mail: info@intellisourze.comWebsite: www.intellisourze.comA check on the domain name "intellisourze.com" shows that the website and name registration was created on May 8, just one month *after* the Crosby scams were shut down in Florida:Domain Name: INTELLISOURZE.COMRegistrant:  Pragra Infratech Pvt. (And be sure to report them to all the agencies above each time they call you.)By the way, here's just a small sample of numbers used by this particular group of scammers. Read the reports and you'll see the same pattern time and again -- phony organization names, thick foreign accents, and oddly worded threats that are so melodramatic and ridiculous that it's laughable:http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-925-262-1327http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-678-954-6346http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-888-341-4004http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-856-831-0640http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-410-505-8128http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-917-464-2534http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-210-858-6602http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-214-245-1402http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-214-245-0922http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-214-723-5572http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-904-425-2863http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-718-831-7157http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-904-425-2857http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-925-262-1327http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-678-954-6346http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-888-341-4004http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-856-831-0640http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-949-743-1140http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-410-505-8128http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-917-464-2534http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-888-775-2121http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-949-743-1156http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-214-245-1402http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-214-245-0922http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-214-723-5572and, many, MANY more.

Update on phone number (716) 200 4992. My uncle who is a sheriff called the number and got the same person with strong accent. When the man was asked what kind of business does he work for.. he failed to say anything but "who are you calling about?" its clear that this company is either a summons carrier or collection agency in buffolo, ny. There employee by the name of Jason Hunt has a very tacky-way of looking up personal information about you (via internet or some other source) and try to use it for a return call from you. He will try to scare you into calling him back. Do not return phone call from these people.... if they call you at home or work report the call to police and tell them these people are unknown to you and are making threats and now stalking which makes you feel unsafe. This will make the call more serious and it will start being tracked by computer and put on public record. We have notified the FBI (west coast branch) and according to them the matter is already being worked on. It sounded kinda serious. So, do not return there calls. If they call you simply hangup... when called back hangup again until they stop. They will say personal things about you... how they get the info is unknown to me. They will be delt with soon. No Worries.

I received a message on my phone that I need to call this number that it was an very important business matter that they had a legal document and if I did not call them back that they would take it that I was avoiding the situation. The person barely spoke english with an Indian/Eastern accent.  They also called to my work several times and spoke to a co-workier and told them I was not there and he said I know she is and I want to talk to her.  My co-worker transfered them to security.  They hung up and called again.

I had recevied a call from someone from this phone number by the name of J. Hunt. He started to tell me that someone I knew was in a legal mess and the person should call him back on this number. It sounded like a debt collector seeking information. We called the number back requesting that the person whom answered the phone tell us about the company. The person would not say anything and asked who are we calling about. I said again can you please tell me what kind of company is this? He refused to give any info. They answered the phone like this... Dept. of Crimes Pervention.. may I help you?? The number is based out of New York. Be careful when calling anyone at this number and never give any of your personal information out to them.

I just called the number on my statement to see if Chase has already sent me to collections.  Yes, they sent me to collections at 12 days overdue and she said they use an autodialer and will continue calling until the bill is paid.So Chase is playing hardball, not allowing people to wait till the next statement date.It was an Indian lady, but not terribly hard to understand.  However, be forewarned that collections calls begin very early and they use an autodialer.  They will not quit until you pay your bill.I'm turning my cell phone off again :)Good luck to you all

Funny and sad.  I only use my cell phone for emergencies and I never answer if I don't recognize the number.  On Apr 17 I was 12 days late on a payment....  I will be paying on the next billing cycle, so I guess this is what I will go through until the beginning of May.  My phone is normally turned off, so at least I'm not irritated by all these.  I've set this number to no ring for those times my phone is on. For any of you who don't have the ability to set no ring on this number, here's what you have to look forward to.... I don't know about now, but when I was a kid repeatedly calling and hanging up, not leaving a message, was harassment and illegal.  Sure they have a right to what is owed them, but that does nto extend to harrassment.  Perhaps they should change the name to Sopranos Bank.  I say file complaints with the state utilities commission and FCC on harrassing calls.

I am dealing with Chase right now too. I got 8 calls from them today. No one on the phone any time I answered. Ringing the phone for no reason is just illegal.  So, here is the first part of a letter going out to them in the morning. We will just see if it works or I have to execsise my rights with further action."Chase, and or any affiliate of Chase, by which working on behalf of Chase, is hereby notified that calling my cell phone number xxx-xxx-xxxx is to cease and desist. Chase is calling my phone at numerous times daily, sometimes within minutes of a previous call, in a manner as outlined in the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act; Article 806, Section (5) as being "harassment and abuse."You can can word your letter however you want too. Mine is about 4 more paragraphs longer. But, I think the only way to make them stop is to tell them in writting. I know they already know about these consummer protection laws, and I am appalled that they violate them anyway.

If you do not mind your line being tied up for a little while, answer your phone, keep asking for THEIR NAME, PHONE NUMBER AND ADDRESS,  so you can get back to them. That is one thing. Or you just set the phone down while they are rambling on. WALK AWAY. Check the phone every few minutes. If they are talking you can make a grunt or groan when you pick up the phone if you like, then set it back down. It is more fun to do this with telemarketers though. However, they will not stay on the phone long. They may even hang up and try to call again only to get a busy tone, that will get boring really quick. If you can program your phone for a different ring tone for when they call or go straight to voice mail, just delete the messages later. Laugh it off as they care enough to call and you just don't have the time for them.I see it this way, when they got to bail out money and turned around and payed out big bonuses, I considered my cards paid off. Actually, I was still paying them, the real bottom line came down when they reduced my credit limit and increased my percentage rates to pay them back. I never once had a late or missed payment on any of my cards. Some of them I kept paid down monthly, others I overpaid each month. So there was not one valid reason other than greed to do what they did to me.So I say screw them. The bail out money that us tax payers paid them and without or votes even, IS our payments and they can screw themselves! We didn't get bailouts like they did!

What you do is, activate call forwarding on your phone service to loop back to the number they first called you with. Then, for each subsequent phone number they call you from, you can then program these phone numbers into your phone service's call forwarding function to reroute their call to the first number they called you with. The Result: peace and quiet from an evil banking entity - priceless! Hope it helps you.

After receiving my 12th call in a row (with periods of 15 minutes to half an hour in between each call) from them today, here is what I did to stop them from calling.  I told them that I understand their need to call me in an attempt to recover a debt.  I then told them that calling me 12 times in the span of several hours in a day constitutes harassment, and that I do not appreciate it and want the calls to stop.  I told them I was working with a credit counseling service and that if they had any questions they could contact them.  Again, I reiterated (in a very calm, professional, and controlled but stern tone) that they are harassing me, and I would not stand for it.  They apologized and stated that I would not receive any further calls.  Let us see if it works!!!  Good luck to you.

Tried paying what I owe them. Spent hours on the phone with them since June when my hours where cut at work. Then my husband was in an ATV accident and broke 8 ribs, his collar bone, punctured his lung, amongst other injuries. Now he can not work for four months until he heals. Tried to get on Chases hardship program and they told me that my debt to income ratio was to high so I don't qualify for their hardship program. Excuse me, but what would be considered hardship, I have the money but refuse to pay you. Is that their definition of hardship. So to those of you saying pay your bill and they will stop calling, not everyone is a lazy no good bum who don't pay their bills. Some people have honest hardship situations that disable them from making their payments. You miss your payment by one day with Chase and they tack on 40 to your minimum payment due and you must pay your payment and the fee right away. It does not matter that your debt is less than your limit and they could just add the fee to the total of what you owe. No they want it NOW. If you can't do what they want they keep tacking on more and more until there is no way you can get caught up. So stop judging all and stereotyping people on this forum. I would love to pay them, but they want money that I never borrowed from them and refuse to work with someone that is experiencing a real hardship.

I'm sorry but they are a part of it. And this is just one of many, many examples. When they sent my college 18 year old an offer for a credit card (she has no job mind you) and tell her it's going to be 0 interest for six months and then 9% thereafter,  she believes them because they are a "bank" and she goes for it and as soon as she uses the card a few times, once to go to a funeral, and they raise the interest rate to 20% and double the payment so she cannot afford but to miss one payment and then raise that rate to 29%, on everything on the card, yeah, you can be it's a problem they helped create out of greed. If you are going to raise the rate it should only apply to NEW charges that you then know are going to be at that rate. Being young and gullible I guess that's her fault. Being a greedy corporation scamming the public, who trusted themr? Well, I guess it's their fault for misleading people to get business. And guess who gets to help pay it now? WE ALL DO.We're not blaming our personal situation on anybody, but the banks do need to share a big old juicy slice of the blame pie, because they did have a very large part in what is happening with our economy today. The facts speak for themselves and are finally coming out for all to see. It is what it is and they are not blameless by a long shot. They are sweating bullets right now because a lot more is coming out and is going to come out about just how they do "business".

847-488-3313

95 Report Long ago Unknown
This is NOT TRUE!  If you file full bankruptcy where your debts are discharged, there is no further debt owed, so nothing to sell.  Creditors use credit agencies all the time, and often "sell" their debt, but as long as you identify the original debtor and any collection agencies you are aware of, you are covered and no longer responsible for the debt.

847-488-3313

95 Report Long ago Unknown
I agree with you - BK does remove the debt. But the JUNK DEBT BUYERS still get a hold of that debt SOMEHOW and try to collect it anywayLaws need to be changed so that DEBT can no longer BE SOLD.   LAWS also have to be changed that once a debt passes the Statute of Limitations it can no longer be collected AT ALL.     Once a debt has passed the SOL for your STATE there is no legal obligation for the person to pay it. Its already ruined your credit - paying a JDB will not change that fact. The JUNK DEBT BUYERS claim they are asking for voluntary payment from you - when they break every law on the books to collect debt they HAVE NO LEGAL RIGHT TO COLLECT.

847-488-3313

95 Report Long ago Unknown
This is NOT true - If you file a chapter 7, the debts are discharged."In most chapter 7 cases, the debtor receives a discharge that releases the debtor from personal liability for certain dischargeable debts. The debtor normally receives a discharge three to four months after the petition is filed."This discharge is not selling the debts to someone so they can collect, that is a collection service. When you are eleased from personal liability that's it. If creditors, or collection agencies are still trying to collect then they are in violation http://www.bankruptcyinformation.com/chapter-7-bankruptcy.htm

BK does not make the debt go away - Although legally discharged in BK, and you are no longer responsible to pay it - that debt will be sold to a collection agency (junk debt buyer) by the original creditor.  this is allowed at this time!  When it should be illegal. Then the harrassment starts all over again. And it will continue as each collection agency in turn resells it to another one as they each give up trying to collect it.

The only way to get the calls to stop is to pay the bill or file bankruptcy.  Once you file BK, they are forbidden by federal law to violate the BK stay.  If they call again after you give them you BK attorney info and case # they are in big trouble.  Take notes on who calls and when.  If they call after filing get that info to your attorney and he will slap them in court.  Judges do not tolerate stay violations.

Maybe there are many of strapped for money right now that are having trouble paying and we are trying but they do not find it acceptable. I have been negotiating with credit cards and they are not easy to deal with.  It is there way or no way.  We are in a recession and they need to be helpful to, they were a part of it.
