Does anyone know who this phone number is for?? When I call it back I get a recording that says, "Thank you for calling. Please enter a 4-digit extension or 0 for the directory." Then when I press "0" for the directory, it says, "No directory is available at this time." I tried punching in random 4 digits, hoping to get an extension belonging to someone, but I didn't. If you enter 4 digits that are not a valid extension it just keeps saying, "Please select an option from the menu, or press "star" to repeat the menu. Please enter a 4-digit extension number or 0 for the directory."The automated message just keeps repeating itself!! On occasion, 4 digits would get me nothing but silence (instead of repeating the above messages over and over).  It's very odd - and since their area code is the same as the one I live in, it makes me wonder even more who this belongs to!!!

I am strongly considering filing a complaint to the FCC as you've suggested. I just received a called from this number 484.270.8034 as well, but did not pick. Though i did get a called last month starting with the area code 610, which is also located in PA and when I answered it was exactly the same thing everyone is mentioning here: There was a recorded message mentioning "2nd Notice of Warranty Ending" or something along those lines - about a vehicle. Well, I don't have a vehicle  - I don't even drive!! So, I choose to speak to a representative and I explained to the representative (who happened to be a women) that I don't have a car, nor do I drive. She repeated my phone number and I confirmed (probably a bad idea) and then she said laughed, said, "that's a good one!" and hung up without letting me say a word!!Also, someone asked if it has to do with having an iPhone. I have an iPhone as well, but I highly doubt that it has anything to do with that.Does anyone posting here live in PA? Or are you from different states? I'm also very curious as to how these people/person is getting our phone numbers!! (They only seemed to know my phone number, nothing else. They didn't mention my name, address, etc.)Hope we figure this out!

I have been receiving calls about a "second warranty" on my car for nearly a year. It's the same thing, every time. A recording warns me that my warranty may have expired (the car is 2 years old, and has a 10 year warranty). It claims that this is the "last call" I will receive of the offer. But they call over and over. I ignored it for a while, then started hitting a button to speak to someone, and asked to be removed from their list. They said they would. But I'm still on it - they keep calling. Usually there is no caller ID listed, or phone number.Today, however, it showed both a number (484-270-8034) and a name (Micha Perticari). So I hit the button to speak to someone and pretended I was interested. He was asking all the questions...about the car, my address and phone number. At one point I casually asked, "So, what is the name of your company that would be providing this warranty?"And the f****r hung up on me.If there are any attorneys or officials who read this and are looking for someone to join in some action against them, count me in.

American Studios. Apparently I(or someone in my house) signed up for a chance to win a FREE ANTIQUE PORTRAIT OF YOUR CHILD......I remember seeing the boxes around town, but dont remember signing up. Who knows........ BUT, they want you to bring your UNDER AGE 13 child for a free sitting and you get a free pic(8X10? Maybe),. Then when you come back to pick up your free one, they try to rope you into buying the "specially priced packages" of pictures that are MUCH better looking than your free one.(of course).

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story? The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize; refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number; asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency. If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you. Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing. Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name. Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt. Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.> http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt076.shtm

all i can say is it's funny to read these comments because i told the owners once before this kind of stuff would happen. the company is a real company, unfortunately the people that works there aren't the best of the field. the tactics used to collect on a debt by them for the most part violate the FDCPA rules and regulations. if you or anyone else has an issue with them or any other agency that's violating your rights, email me your name and contact number and i can show you how to turn their phone calls into a pay check for you!

This is through check-n-go or 3rd parties that you go to to get a payday advance.  This is a scam and I've called 3- 4 months ago and all they are trying to do is get the rest of your BANK INFO.  DO NOT give them any info.  You HAVEN'T done anything wrong.  They charged $19.95 to my account although I didn't give them anymore info.  Not sure how this happened, but it was reversed.  I went ahead and closed my bank account so it wouldn't happen again.  Basically these people purchase a block of #'s to call you from that cannot be traced, then they try to get all the other info. so they can scam you for money.  They only receive the last 4 digits of your account # and/or s.s. #.The check n- go and other 3rd party companies are aware of this.  They need better security.  Too bad so many of us have to get an advance one in awhile.

They can call me every day for years and talk to my machine all they want if that is what they are compelled to do with their lives. It doesn't bother me at all. What's with all of these thin skinned easily irritated people anyway? Too many food additives? It takes no more effort to erase their messages than it does to erase any others and I can do it at the same time for efficiency. I will never bother to expend the effort to talk to them and I will never, ever send them a dime for a debt, whether legitimate or not-- Just because they are who they are. If they sue me, I fight them tooth and nail all the way through court with free legal aid, forcing them to waste more time and money. Then I continue to not pay them, in peace and tranquility. If everyone did that, they’d all go out of business. I am the rock upon which they beat themselves bloody. Love to all...

only in america what has this world become. looking out for a fast buck and taking no responsibility for actions.  the best thing to do in dealing w/ a debt collector is to get specific info and always provided good, specific documentation when disputing a bal owed/ but above all if there is just some outside chance that you do owe the money make payments as quickly as possible and payoff asap/ sitting idly by not making cont w/ the collector only makes things worse/ fact is the debt probable wasn't already handled in the best manner if you are already in collection. work w/ the debtor whether you owe it or not.not dealing w/ it only looks like your running from the debt

This is my third and last posting. I just e-mailed Penn (see previous posting for their e-mail address), after receiving another one of their automated messages on my answering machine. Feel free to copy and paste this from an anonymous e-mail address to e-mail your warning to them:My name is xxxxx at xxx-xxx-xxxx. (Real name and number was given to them.) You have called my home repeatedly with automated messages. Your messages, that often are left on my answering machine, claim that you are a collection agency. You do not identify whom you represent, and through your automated methods, are circumventing my opportunity to warn you about the Federal Fair Credit Reporting Act.  Since you have been harassing me for months, using circumvention, I am warning you now. You are not to call my home for ANY reason. If you do, I will alert your State Attorney General to your tactics.  S/he will receive a link to this website, http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-800-900-1380#pdJBhBsywLgDXogjLKhxjSQ that attests to your tactics as described by multiple victims.  I speak for them as well as myself. You have the right to contact unknowledgeable consumers if lawful; however, I am not one of those unknowledgeable consumers. You are on notice, as of the reception of this message, that further telephonic contact will be reported to your SAG. S/he will receive my written complaint, a copy of this notice and a link to the aforementioned website as evidence.Cease and desist or further action will be taken.

But when a collector keeps calling for someone that does not live at your address and you don't even know, it is harrassment on their part. And even when it is a bs call that should not be made because the number is on and has been on the Do Not Call registry for many yrs. So when I tell them that they need to stop calling for those reasons and they keep calling anyway, I will report them for harrassment.

800-900-1380

The big problem with this caller is that I answer the phone all the time and there is no one there.  I have no problem with them trying to collect a legitimate debt from someone, and am sure it isn't mine, but I want to know what debt it is and whose debt it is.   Another reason I answer is to inform them, if there is actually anyone on the line,  that I don't want to receive any more calls from them and furthermore that I recently purchased a dandy little item called a Screecher and the next live person who calls from their company will probably lose the hearing in one ear.  I know that would be illegal, but wouldn't it be great to get this whole thing out in court for everyone to see how these firms work, and I'm sure if there are any members of the jury who receive these types of calls I will be acquitted.

As a debt collector, I was curious as to what was said about collectors on the internet. You do NOT tell a company you want to cease communication, companies want it in writing."CEASING COMMUNICATION.  If a consumer notifies a debt collector in writing that the consumer refuses to pay a debt or that the consumer wishes the debt collector to cease further communication with the consumer, the debt collector shall not communicate further with the consumer with respect to such debt, except—(1) to advise the consumer that the debt collector’s further efforts are being terminated; (2) to notify the consumer that the debt collector or creditor may invoke specified remedies which are ordinarily invoked by such debt collector or creditor;" I know this because not only do I know the law, I was tested on it MULTIPLE times. Also, if we DON'T KNOW that we're contacting a family member, how are we supposed to stop? As far as we know, we're contacting the debtor. A tip for a debtor: We're only allowed to have contact (this includes knowing we're talking to the correct person by verifying a name plus another form of identification) once every three (or five?) days. We work on an automatic dialer and the dialer does that sort of work.

@Trying, You're obviously a very responsible person. I am not. If things don't go well for me, I don't pay, simple as that. I'm not going to hurt for them! And I don't lose any sleep over it or even allow myself to get upset. The primary money grubber doesn't give a damn about me and the scum sucking collection jackals for sure couldn't care less about my situation and what I have to go through. So I don't give a damn about them either or give them a second thought.  I am their worst nightmare. They can only get a hook into your flesh if you care. If you care, you are vulnerable to their BS. I do not. I screen all calls and don't even waste my time answering and being manipulated by these low-lifes. This is their problem having the job that they do. They are probably paying a stiff karmic debt themselves...  :) If they sue me, I fight them with free legal aid. If they win, I still will not pay. When I get back on my feet, I will pay legitimate creditors but I never pay Debt Collectors- ever. They are Vultures with blood all over their faces and I will not dignify their existence with a single cent of my money. You are a good person, 'Trying’. Don't feel guilty and don't get upset. It is a weakness and makes you vulnerable to the parasites. Just know in truth that you are better than you even think you are, do your best, then just forget about these bastages. The best defense is to simply ignore them... :)

I've told 2 companies that I haven't been able to work for 2 years due to progressive health problems still not under control and have since applied to disability and that I was NOT trying to get out of paying my debts but just have to wait until receive disability and actually have a pay check or disability check to make any payments. It's really hard with only hubby's paycheck with a pay cut to keep his job to pay everything. They still keep calling and harrassing. I told them what do you think you can get out of 'nothing?' I have sold everything I can sell to pay off some debts and still have 2 left. Those 2 will just have to wait. I have a hearing coming up on ss and no, I am not one of those deadbeats who won't work; I have worked since I was 13 years old and buying my own school clothes/stereo equip/and other personal items. I have paid into ss all my life. They just don't 'get it.' I finally told them, you'll have to wait until I hear from ss or sue me. If you sue me, you will get nothing. There's nothing left to get. THIS is harrassment. They can check with drs and the ss to see I am NOT lying about any of this, so why do they continue? ONE day THEY themselves will see hardship and they will get theirs.

Absolutely. You need to get a consumer law attorney and sue them for repeatedly ignoring your requests to validate the debt:Section 809(a) requires a collector, within 5 days of the first communication, to provide the consumer a written notice (if not provided in that communication) containing (1) the amount of the debt and--(2) the name of the creditor, along with a statement that he will (3) assume the debt's validity unless the consumer disputes it within 30 days, (4) send a verification or copy of the judgment if the consumer timely disputes the debt, and --(5) identify the original creditor upon written request. http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/rules/validating-debts-9.html#1

OMG - this is the same problem I am have from this same number: 800-900-1380. a year os so ago they would call 2-3 times a day. Answered 1 time and they asked if this was (last name) residence - I said yes how can I help you. They said the were looking for Betty or Richard (last name). I told them there is no one living here by that name and asked them to stop calling. Then all of a sudden we are getting calls from the same number - 800-900-1380-  for the same reason looking for a Karen (last name). Again - no and please stop calling this number. It wasnt 15 mins later they called again. I believe they get all the last names from the national directory and just start calling numbers with the same last name in a given area  looking for a specific person. How do we stop this insidious harassment? It seems to be a lot from the same number.

@collector who said: "Don't get rude with someone from a collection agency calling if it's a wrong number, it's not our fault, we were given the number by the person we are trying to contact" Utter BS. This one particular company 800-900-1380 calls me PERIODICALLY. My wife and I are listed in the phone book as "D and M LastName". Well this credit company, and I'm sure others, see this and fish for someone they have a debt on, because I get calls from them asking for a MELISSA Lastname, or MARK LastName...neither of which are my wife or I. So clearly NOBODY gave them the number, they are on a fishing expedition.

These businesses like credit companies all use other family members info to try to track you down. They will even try contacting an ex spouse, children, moms, dads, grandparents, neighbors or anyone else they think will give them the info they are looking for. They will use 'find anyone' companies and give any and all info they currently know or have on you. Even though you might have been divorced for decades........they still have your name also and probably think you might still know how to reach the ex or know the whereabouts of them. These companies are like the IRS; if someone says you died; they'll hire someone to dig your grave up and do DNA to prove it. Not joking either.

I have to disagree with your comment stating the collection agency wouldn't be calling unless the person they are trying to contact gave you the number. I've had a collection agency (not this one) call my ex-husband who I've been divorced from for over 20yrs insisting I lived there. Not only did I not give them that number, but he had only been living in that state for a couple of years.

I am a collection agent and have been on the receiving end of collection calls so I'm not judging anyone, I understand times get hard but as far as the Fair Credit Reporting Act, that has nothing to do with demanding that someone stop calling you. If you are going to give advise to people about how to handle their debt or people calling about debt at least reference back to the correct guidelines which would be the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act or FDCPA. And you do have the right to request that someone stop calling you, but you do have to follow any verbal request to cease calls in writing within 10 days of the verbal request and I would suggest mailing with return receipt requested. AND FOR ANYONE THAT WANTS TO SAY I WORK FOR THE COMPANY CALLING, I DON'T AND NEVER HAVE. I WORK IN A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT STATE FOR A TOTALLY UNRELATED COMPANY BUT 800-900-1380 CALLED OUR OFFICE NUMBER LOOKING FOR SOMEONE THAT APPARENTLY USE TO HAVE THIS NUMBER. Don't get rude with someone from a collection agency calling if it's a wrong number, it's not our fault, we were given the number by the person we are trying to contact and chances are if one agency was given the wrong number, several agencies were so don't assume that just because you tell an agency that the number no longer belongs to John Doe that every other agency should automatically know.

I guess you're not such a *wiz kid* after all if you don't think companies will send out merchandise you didn't order.  It's happened to me and it's happened to my mama.  I will suddenly start getting a magazine I would NEVER read and three months later get a bill for it.  I've received books I never ordered.  I've been charged in my checking account for a set of encyclopedias I would never EVER in a million years order and never received.  I've been billed for CDs from Columbia House I never ordered and never received.  This has all happened over the course of about 15 years.  The most recent was the magazine. You might want to change your name to something more appropriate....like maybe *uneducated opinion*.

You are WRONG. Disney sent me one time a bunch of stupid figurines of Disney characters in a box that I have never ever ordered from before. I TOLD THEM I HAVE NO CHILDREN; NO GRANDCHILDREN & NEVER ORDERED THESE ITEMS. Then, I told them if they wanted them back they can pay all postage, handling fees from ME for my time packaging them back up and my tape usage or send someone out to personally pick them up. WHY would I order this trash? They couldn't verify my order of these items and chose to "allow me to keep them instead" at which point I threw them in the trash. So don't tell me this sort of quirky stupid sales tactic doesn't happen. Yellow Pages online took it upon themselves 5 years ago to put our business on their listing and then had the audacity to send me a bill! I called them, argued with salesman, which said he had someone from our company on tape that subscribed. I said Really? Who is it? And I demanded to hear the tape. He then stuttered n stammered; then got his supervisor who then 'pretended' to be working on getting the tape............. tic tic tic moments later....... apologies couldn't find the 'mysterious' tape at which point I declared to the embecile that considering my husband & I were the ONLY two employees of our company..........................you, sir, are a very poor LIAR and if I receive ONE more call/memo/letter or WORD from you, I will contact the state Attorney General's office at which time you shall be sued, fined and possibly lose your license to operate in this state and I might add my state has the most 'aggressive' anti-business guy in the country serving this position.  ........ silence....................click............................haven't heard a peep since!!!

Many moons ago, X sent me a book that I did not order with an invoice. I called and yelled at them, they said they'd gotten my name from Business Week magazine (that I had a subscription to then) as a sales lead and arranged return shipment directly from my home after I told them I was keeping it (the law says unsolicited shipments are free gifts) if I had to lift a finger or pay a penny to return it. And the book seller was a legit business. 800notes is rife with complaints of scammers offering freebies to businesses like a dozen pens to try, ship like a 100 dozen of them followed by an invoice and claim the business had ordered them. You need to get out of your whiz cage and live in the real world for a change.

I think the state laws of the person who received the call would most likely apply on the subject of recorded phone calls. I say this because I think if a person would file a lawsuit, it would be filed in the state of residence of the person who received a call, not necessarily in Pen. In the state I live in, Georgia, as long as one person has knowledge of the recorded call, the recording is admissible in court. I don't the full ins and outs of this, but I think this may be the case. I'm not being critical but just offering a different perspective that could apply. I encourage everyone to look up the laws of their state regarding this. The individual;s attorney general's office would be a good place to start.

"You say they block their number. How did you get to this page then."I think blkcatmail meant that they block their name (I got "Not Provided" when they called me just a few minutes ago, and I came here through Google, looking up the number). When they call, if you pick up, do what Dee Dee says, BUT tell them that they need to only contact you in writing (there are some protections for companies that are just told to stop calling, without having other ways to communicate). It's a very good idea to send a letter (by certified mail, with receipt requested) stating that you want them to only contact you in writing - and, no, email doesn't count.THEN, once you have proof that they've received the letter, if they continue to call, they are in violation of the FDCPA; and you can go ahead and report them to their State Attorney General's Office. If you don't send the letter, they can always claim that you never told them to stop calling. Any judge might be inclined not to believe them, but you'd have no proof to say they were lying, so they could still get away with it.BTW - if anyone is thinking of recording their phone calls with Penn Credit, Pennsylvania requires all parties in the conversation know that a recording is being made, UNLESS a party does something illegal in that conversation. So, go ahead and record, but keep in mind that you probably won't be able to use that recording(s) unless they commit an illegal act while you're talking.

I just don't answer the phone and let them leave a message. I'mhere because quality paperback books sent me 3 books 2 years ago. I never ordered the books and I threw them away. Since they were in an unmarked package and I had no idea what was being shipped to me, I had opened them. I know enough that something shipped to me that  I didn't order, I have the right to do with as I please. but I will not stand for their recent threats of turning me into a credit bureau. its illegal to ship something and expect payment. When the reciever never ordered anything.

I've been getting calls from these clowns, too. I get the same computer messages (that are hilarious when the "computer" says my full name). OK, Folks. There are laws against this and I am a consumer advocate. Now here this ~ whether you owe money or not, is totally irrelevant. Please look up the Fair Credit Reporting Act which will tell you that if you tell the collector to never call back again because of the FCRA, that they are in violation of the Law. Then threaten to contact their State Attorney General's Office in PA. By law, they are allowed to contact you one more time, offering a final settlement. Don't accept a settlement. Don't waste your time by arguing over money. Simply follow through with your threat. Warn them for the last time, then immediately contact the SAG in PA. Most SAGs can be contacted via e-mail. Attach a link for him/her to this site. Penn has probably already violated the law with their calling methods. They are trying to circumvent knowledgeable consumer warnings. This is the solution and you must follow through with the SAG. I have used this Law before and my state's SAG came down hard on the creditor, who expressed a threat (also against FCRA). Fortunately, I was the spouse of a deadbeat. I wasn't the deadbeat. Anyway, you can use this with any collector. Keep in mind that many of these calls may be scams. In this sucking economy, con artists are crawling out of the woodwork. Remember that with any collector you must contact the SAG in THEIR state.

The other thing collection companies do is what is called a "reverse lookup".  Debt collectors look at old addresses and do a reverse lookup for the address and then call any telephone number associated with the address: even if the phone number has belonged to someone else for ten years!  (I know; I'm that person who gets the calls.)  Another thing debt collectors do is simply call any telephone number ever associated with the person who allegedly has a debt to see if there is a response and if the alleged debtor has returned to the number.  I have lived in this house for over ten years; I have had the same telephone number for fifteen years; I have had the same cell number since my first cell phone purchase; I still get calls for the same people who may have once lived in my house because my phone numbers are tied into the address.Last week, my neighbors were called to see if perchance one of them could get me to call back because the call was urgent.  My neighbor informed the caller that no such person had lived at that address for years.  We are still getting the calls.

I know this is an old posting, but under the FDCPA a bill collector can not reveal information to anyone but the person who they are trying to reach. That is why the message will tell you not to listen or to hang up. The collection agency is covering their butt in case they reach a wrong person who does listen to the message. Bill collectors who "claim" to be decent, hardworking individuals just doing their jobs will find people with the same last name as yours in your area and hound them with phone calls hoping they will eventually reach the person the are looking for. Research the law and fight back at these people. If you are the wrong person, tell them not to call you again and if they continue to do so, document the calls and sue them. You can win a judgement of $1000 for harassment due to violating the rules of the Fair Debt Collection Protection Act.

The Do-Not-Call registry is a farce.  I have repeatedly reported the same company with the same number and the same human caller, and nothing has been done about it.  For over six months, I have received calls regarding lowering my credit card interest rates: I have no credit cards (thanks to Bill).  The Do-Not-Call registry is a waste of time and so is reporting it to its parent agency.  As for Penn Credit, I was called at 2045 hours on a Sunday.  That, to me, is intrusive.  I had no way to call back at the time as the recording says to call back during normal business hours.  So, how does one call back during normal business hours when its obvious that the company does not keep normal business hours.

I agree with the Gran on the go's post.  At 8pm I'm spending time with my family.  I, out of that normal curiosity, called them back, got a cheesy, (yes, I'm from Wisconsin), muzak music and someone finally came on the line and greeted me as Penn whatever...I asked her to repeat it and she did..I asked what the call was regarding, she said 'we handle personal business matters, please hold one moment Ma'am', sounded like she put me on hold when indeed she ended the call...I was a little irritated.  I called back to ask them to 'take my name off your list'  (which is ALL you have to say, and by law they HAVE to), but no one would pick up...the call just dropped so I can only assume they have caller ID.  I'll get 'em.  When an unwanted caller calls you for soliciting of any sort just do as I mentioned above and also get your numbers on the do-not-call lists...it really does help..Happy New Year Everyone!

SUNDANCE VACATIONS IS A BAD DEAL!THE BAIT: Your first encounter with Sundance Vacations will probably be at some kind of fair, sporting event, mall and other social venues where you will be accosted by a Sundance Vacations representative urging you to enter their sweepstakes. DON’T DO IT! The only purpose of the sweepstakes is to obtain your contact information so Sundance Vacations telemarketers can call you relentlessly in an attempt to get you to attend their high pressure sales presentation. Sundance Vacations will promise you a gift of a mini-vacation or other inducements that are impractical to use. Nevertheless, you may be persuaded by Sundance Vacations smooth talking telemarketers since their commissions depend on them getting you to attend the high pressure sales pitch. THE PITCH: Initially, Sundance Vacations will offer you 30 weekly vacations for $15,000, $12,000 if you purchase that day only. Financing is available at an absurd 16.7% interest rate! Although financing is for 84 months (7 years) the Sundance contract is a 30-year commitment. Sundance Vacations spiel is that 30 weekly vacations, at $12,000, is equal to $400 per vacation, but let’s do the math:THE MATH: Initial down payment of $2,400. = $2,400$195 per month for 84 months. (Financing the $9,600 balance) = $16,380$339 annual membership fee x 30 years. = $10,170 $99.00 per week reservation fee x 30 weeks = $2,970$30.00 per night peak travel time upgrade.$30.00 per night x 7 nights = $210 per week.(39 of the 52 yearly weeks are “peak travel time.”) $210 per week peak travel time x 30 weeks = $6,300 That’s a total of $38,220 for 30 vacations or $1,274 per week and they are one bedroom accommodations because two bedrooms require another $210.00 per week upgrade. That would then equal $1,484 per week and that does NOT include meals, air fare, transfers to and from the airport, local taxes, on-site amenities, maid service, gratuities, etc. All of the above ancillary fees are detailed in the Sundance Vacations contract. The minimum $1,274 per week is more than 3 times the $400.00 per week that Sundance Vacations pitches. In addition, with the exception of the initial purchase price, all the ancillary fees (yearly maintenance fees, weekly reservation fees, peak travel time upgrades, local taxes, etc.) are subject to increase as detailed in the Sundance Vacations contract. Also in the contract are very specific and burdensome requirements for booking vacations, quoting from that contract:THE TERMS & CONDITIONS OF USE: “You may assist our Vacation Fulfillment/Reservations department by being as flexible as possible with your desired vacation area and dates. Provide a total of 3 areas and/or 3 dates: The 3 vacation areas may have the same travel dates, or the 3 travel dates may all be for the same desired vacation area. Reservation Requests must be received at least 90 days in advance for peak season requests and 180 days in advance for holiday or special event times. Summer travel is defined as the dates between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Almost all dates qualify as peak travel so requests are typically 90 to 180 days in advance.” (1) “3 vacation areas may have the same travel dates, or the 3 travel dates may all be for the same desired vacation area." (2) "Almost all dates qualify as peak travel so requests are typically 90 to 180 days in advance.” That’s a choice? It may be a “Hobson’s Choice,” but certainly not YOUR choice! The bottom line is $1,274 to $1,484 per vacation week (accommodations only) 90 to 180 days advanced written request with no guarantee that you’ll get the vacation time and place that you choose because all requests are based on “availability” as detailed in the Sundance Vacations contract. Consequently, Sundance Vacations, NOT YOU, will decide which choice you get based on the “availability” as detailed in the Sundance Vacations contract. If you experience any problems with Sundance Vacations you should contact the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Hotlines. The following are the toll-free consumer complaint hotlines for each of the four states in which Sundance Vacations operates:(1) Pennsylvania 1-800-441-2555(2) New Jersey 1-800-242-5846 (3) Wisconsin 1-800-422-7128(4) Illinois 1-800-386-5438Additional information may be obtained by Googling: "Sundance Vacations Sweepstakes Scam" (without the quotation marks)http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&i...eepstakes+Scam

Go ahead and leave the name they address you by and your phone number so they know who you are. I suggest you use www.nowmymail.com from which to send your message.

And the book seller was a legit business. 800notes is rife with complaints of scammers offering freebies to businesses like a dozen pens to try, ship like a 100 dozen of them followed by an invoice and claim the business had ordered them.

They say that to cover their a** regarding privacy issues. The fact is, unless they verify that you are the person they are trying to reach they are breaking privacy laws.

Always get everything in writing.  Discussing business over the phone is never a good idea.  In writing you have a record of all transaction and it doesn't turn into a "he said, she said" problem later on down the road.

Actually the phone company does NOT have the right to DICTATE to you how you handle a phone call you receive.  But then that is NOT what she said.....so perhaps if you read ALL the words, you could respond properly.  However, I strongly suspect it's what the previous commenter said....you probably work for these lowlife companies and want people to not only feel intimidated by you when you call but also when they read your worthless post.

The Do Not Call list has not worked since 2009.  Shortly after that date the new 5 top excutives of that division of the US government was found to be watching porn (4 men/1woman) 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.  In investigating as best I could I fopund these 5 people are still running the FCC with no reprimand.  This is exactly why the Do Not Call list no longer works 4 years later.  It worked for me prior to 2009.

If I am reading Linda Malone's message correctly, she is not talking about THE phone company, but the company calling her and leaving the voicemail message that is disturbing to her. I don't blame her. Just the curiosity factor alone would make the recipient want to find out who in the heck is calling their number.

WHAT are you talking about?  She/He said, that Penn Corp has NO right to tell them to hang up the phone.  YOU are MORE THAN WRONG!  My guess is that you work as a lowlife collector & want people to feel intimidated by your worthless post.

The phone company does in fact have the right to dictate how the service they provide you is handled.  This includes but is not limited to saying, you can't call a specific number.

I keep getting automated phone calls asking me to identify myself after a brief moment of silence the caller will say by listening you will agree that listening to the message you are the person in question, and if not hangup now. I pay the phone bill, the company has no rights to tell me when to hang up the phone!. I don't want any phone calls I don't do business like that, everything I do is in writing.

Received a call asking for Erin (my wife) but when I called back they wanted to verify that this was Alex (me) calling them back.  Why would they leave a message for Erin and expect Alex to call them back?  I looked further into this and there have been numerous complaints about this company calling and harassing people for piddly amounts of money, usually under ninety dollars

Received calls from this woman thousands of times for many days.  Decided to answer.  First asked for my son who was not home. She thought he was 13.  Then asked for his grandmother but I am his mom.  Why would she ask for his grandmother?Said was going to have a "photo session at Days Inn 08/13." Told what children was supposed to wear & was for children under 13.  Also, said a man signed up for him.  My son is 18 & we were living in another state when he was 13.

Received a call from this number today, it is American Studios...I recently put my name in a box for a free Antique Photo of my child, which they arrange to have done during one of their photography sessions in your area...You then receive a free 8x10 but of course are asked to purchase other pictures at a higher rate.

March 24.  No message was left and no one will answer call back.  There are several other search results about this number stating that it is a printing agency out of Jasper, AL.  I do not know why they would be calling me.  This was the 1st and hopefully last call I will recieve from them.

American Studios is a photography company based in Chattanooga TN. They do a lot of "drop boxes."  Probably someone gives your name to upgrade their freebie.  They are a good company and do good work but they are very expensive.
