Receiving calls from a 717-705-4488 and the caller id says PRIVATE NUMBER.  they instruct to call them back at 717-783-3000 and to have your social security number ready.  Well,  I have never gotten a letter from the PA Dept of Revenue and I'm sure if they wanted me, they know my address to send me a letter.  I would never give out SS #over the phone.  Someone needs to stop this scam

My husband received a message on his cell phone from a woman named "Sandy" who claimed that she was from the PA Department of Revenue and that we needed to set up a payment schedule for 4 delinquent payments. I called our accountant who said that we did not owe any money to the state and that if it was truly from them, they would have sent a written notice. He said that it was a phishing scheme to get our SS#s or EIN#s and / or to take money from us. I called the PA Department of Revenue's legitimate phone number and spoke with the collections unit and they verified that neither our business nor our personal accounts were delinquent in any way.

I received calls from different numbers including the number 1717-705-4488 late at night, weekends, holidays. The caller always hung up with no reply when I answered. On saturday Jan 28 10:41 there was a call from that number with the recording claiming to be from Pennsylvania state tax, but then it hung up.Being suspicious, I did a redial of the caller ID. The recording said " the number is disconnected and no longer in service." I than manually dialed the number. Again it said " this number is disconnected and no longer in service"That phone number is not with the state of Pennsylvania state revenue. That is a fictitious number having you hold so when you here the click it then connects with your phone number to make mischief calls using your number without your knowledge nor your approval. I have tried to report that number to my phone service. They said there is nothing they can do because those numbers are disconnected and no longer in service. So that number is not an outgoing number or the phone companies would have it listed!Poster revenue employee is lying about his credibility. The numbers he listed is not on the Contact Page of Pennsylvania department of revenue.  Go instead to the .gov web page of the state in question and click on the link for there department of revenue to get theirontact numbers.

I also got a call on my cell phone from this number at 7:30 pm. I checked for my name on the lien list and my name isn't on there. I'm guessing if this call is from collections. The call was for the previous person that had my cell number. I've only had this current cell number for 3 years.

I received a phone call from 717-705-4488 on a Saturday night at 7:29 pm. The message says it is from the PA department of revenue. And to call them back at 717-783-3000. I went to the PA department of revenue and neither number are listed as valid to contact the PA Department of Revenue. They need to mail you a letter before they call you. So, please be careful if you call them back. I believe it is a phishing scam. Our number has been targeted by other scams.

Same Deal with the people below me.  I wasn't home.  Got the number.  Called a few times, and it didn't even ring.  I have Vonage, and I don't get UnWanted telemarketers.  Which is something nice for an internet phone.  The name on the caller id says: HRBG_UNKNOWN.I hope someone can figure this out.  I first thought it was my Vonage line, since it is an internet phone, and when the net is down the phone is down.  So I called myself on the Cell Phone, and that rang, so I knew it had to be something wrong with the number.Good Luck to all.

A Hispanic man who said his name was Dave and worked for Home Roofing Services wanted to speak to my husband and I told him, I was his wife, What could I help you with?  He stated that he spoke to my husband and that my husband wanted to set up a free roofing estimate.  I told him to speak into the phone and to turn off the bar in the background.  I continued to ask Dave how he got this number, since it's unlisted and he stated that they work with the Insurance companies.  I informed Dave that we've never filed an insurance claim, and immediately he hung up.  Beware!

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation’s consumer protection agency, enforces the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), which prohibits debt collectors from using abusive, unfair, or deceptive practices to collect from you.Under the FDCPA, a debt collector is someone who regularly collects debts owed to others. This includes collection agencies, lawyers who collect debts on a regular basis, and companies that buy delinquent debts and then try to collect them. Here are some questions and answers about your rights under the Act.What types of debts are covered? The Act covers personal, family, and household debts, including money you owe on a personal credit card account, an auto loan, a medical bill, and your mortgage. The FDCPA doesn’t cover debts you incurred to run a business. Can a debt collector contact me any time or any place? No. A debt collector may not contact you at inconvenient times or places, such as before 8 in the morning or after 9 at night, unless you agree to it. And collectors may not contact you at work if they’re told (orally or in writing) that you’re not allowed to get calls there. How can I stop a debt collector from contacting me?If a collector contacts you about a debt, you may want to talk to them at least once to see if you can resolve the matter – even if you don’t think you owe the debt, can’t repay it immediately, or think that the collector is contacting you by mistake. If you decide after contacting the debt collector that you don’t want the collector to contact you again, tell the collector – in writing – to stop contacting you. Here’s how to do that:Make a copy of your letter. Send the original by certified mail, and pay for a “return receipt” so you’ll be able to document what the collector received. Once the collector receives your letter, they may not contact you again, with two exceptions: a collector can contact you to tell you there will be no further contact or to let you know that they or the creditor intend to take a specific action, like filing a lawsuit. Sending such a letter to a debt collector you owe money to does not get rid of the debt, but it should stop the contact. The creditor or the debt collector still can sue you to collect the debt. Can a debt collector contact anyone else about my debt?If an attorney is representing you about the debt, the debt collector must contact the attorney, rather than you. If you don’t have an attorney, a collector may contact other people – but only to find out your address, your home phone number, and where you work. Collectors usually are prohibited from contacting third parties more than once. Other than to obtain this location information about you, a debt collector generally is not permitted to discuss your debt with anyone other than you, your spouse, or your attorney. What does the debt collector have to tell me about the debt? Every collector must send you a written “validation notice” telling you how much money you owe within five days after they first contact you. This notice also must include the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money, and how to proceed if you don’t think you owe the money. Can a debt collector keep contacting me if I don’t think I owe any money? If you send the debt collector a letter stating that you don’t owe any or all of the money, or asking for verification of the debt, that collector must stop contacting you. You have to send that letter within 30 days after you receive the validation notice. But a collector can begin contacting you again if it sends you written verification of the debt, like a copy of a bill for the amount you owe. What practices are off limits for debt collectors?Harassment. Debt collectors may not harass, oppress, or abuse you or any third parties they contact. For example, they may not:     use threats of violence or harm;     publish a list of names of people who refuse to pay their debts (but they can give this information to the credit reporting companies);     use obscene or profane language; or     repeatedly use the phone to annoy someone. False statements. Debt collectors may not lie when they are trying to collect a debt. For example, they may not:     falsely claim that they are attorneys or government representatives;     falsely claim that you have committed a crime;     falsely represent that they operate or work for a credit reporting company;     misrepresent the amount you owe;     indicate that papers they send you are legal forms if they aren’t; or     indicate that papers they send to you aren’t legal forms if they are. Debt collectors also are prohibited from saying that:     you will be arrested if you don’t pay your debt;     they’ll seize, garnish, attach, or sell your property or wages unless they are permitted by law to take the action and intend to do so; or     legal action will be taken against you, if doing so would be illegal or if they don’t intend to take the action. Debt collectors may not:     give false credit information about you to anyone, including a credit reporting company;     send you anything that looks like an official document from a court or government agency if it isn’t; or     use a false company name. Unfair practices. Debt collectors may not engage in unfair practices when they try to collect a debt. For example, they may not:     try to collect any interest, fee, or other charge on top of the amount you owe unless the contract that created your debt – or your state law – allows the charge;     deposit a post-dated check early;     take or threaten to take your property unless it can be done legally; or     contact you by postcard. Can I control which debts my payments apply to? Yes. If a debt collector is trying to collect more than one debt from you, the collector must apply any payment you make to the debt you select. Equally important, a debt collector may not apply a payment to a debt you don’t think you owe.Can a debt collector garnish my bank account or my wages? If you don’t pay a debt, a creditor or its debt collector generally can sue you to collect. If they win, the court will enter a judgment against you. The judgment states the amount of money you owe, and allows the creditor or collector to get a garnishment order against you, directing a third party, like your bank, to turn over funds from your account to pay the debt. Wage garnishment happens when your employer withholds part of your compensation to pay your debts. Your wages usually can be garnished only as the result of a court order. Don’t ignore a lawsuit summons. If you do, you lose the opportunity to fight a wage garnishment. Can federal benefits be garnished? Many federal benefits are exempt from garnishment, including:     Social Security Benefits     Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Benefits     Veterans’ Benefits     Civil Service and Federal Retirement and Disability Benefits     Service Members’ Pay     Military Annuities and Survivors’ Benefits     Student Assistance     Railroad Retirement Benefits     Merchant Seamen Wages     Longshoremen’s and Harbor Workers’ Death and Disability Benefits     Foreign Service Retirement and Disability Benefits     Compensation for Injury, Death, or Detention of Employees of U.S. Contractors Outside the U.S.     Federal Emergency Management Agency Federal Disaster Assistance But federal benefits may be garnished under certain circumstances, including to pay delinquent taxes, alimony, child support, or student loans. Do I have any recourse if I think a debt collector has violated the law? You have the right to sue a collector in a state or federal court within one year from the date the law was violated. If you win, the judge can require the collector to pay you for any damages you can prove you suffered because of the illegal collection practices, like lost wages and medical bills. The judge can require the debt collector to pay you up to $1,000, even if you can’t prove that you suffered actual damages. You also can be reimbursed for your attorney’s fees and court costs. A group of people also may sue a debt collector as part of a class action lawsuit and recover money for damages up to $500,000, or one percent of the collector’s net worth, whichever amount is lower. Even if a debt collector violates the FDCPA in trying to collect a debt, the debt does not go away if you owe it.What should I do if a debt collector sues me?If a debt collector files a lawsuit against you to collect a debt, respond to the lawsuit, either personally or through your lawyer, by the date specified in the court papers to preserve your rights. Where do I report a debt collector for an alleged violation?Report any problems you have with a debt collector to your state Attorney General’s office (www.naag.org) and the Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc.gov). Many states have their own debt collection laws that are different from the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Your Attorney General’s office can help you determine your rights under your state’s law.For More InformationTo learn more about debt collection and other credit-related issues, visit www.ftc.gov/credit and MyMoney.gov, the U.S. government’s portal to financial education. The FTC works for the consumer to prevent fraudulent, deceptive, and unfair business practices in the marketplace and to provide information to help consumers spot, stop, and avoid them. We continually get harrassing phone calls from (877) 217-2610 from "John Shelton" stating the same as above "he just received paperwork in his 'office' that is of urgent matter and to have the phone call returned by myself or my representative". In all honesty, I repair credit and in looking through the clients that receive these calls, there is no open debt. I have clients that have settled their debts with the credit card agency or another collection firm. Therefore, CRA does not have any valid claim. They may be receiving data from over ten years ago that has either expired for collection based on each states' laws or trying to get an admittance of guilt. I will be reporting them to FTC and sending them a cease and disest order. I recommend that you DO NOT return their phone call as they will record any "yes" that your provide even with verifying your name or address to lure you into agreeing to confirm a debt. Check your state for the expiration on debts. LAME choice of words, unfortunately this company stepped well beyond their means with this phone call.. it is ILLEGAL to create any sort or sense of URGENCY .. or use misleading representation or misleading insinuations in order to get a debtor to return the call.. if their is no life threatening situation ... IT IS NOT URGENT!!!!!, and they are doing this on a voicemail which is automatically recorded... ??? not the brightest crayons in the box.. savce every voice mail and report it to your state attorney general, and the FEDERAL TRADE COMISSION .. this is harassment, if her only reason for saying these things was to scare someone into returning the call.. is it misleading and ILLEGAL

I received a call from CRA yesterday and the man from CRA was rude and harrassing to me.  I tried to explain that he had the wrong person and that I couldn't get him to tell me who I was suppose to owe. Very rude and unprofessonal! Is there a phone number i can call to report these people to the proper authority?

I had a similar message a few minutes ago from a John Shelton at CRA asking for someone who does not live here. When I called back to say she does not live here, the man got rude and yelled that the matter was serious and I had better have her call back. Then, he hung up hastily before I could answer.Who knows but what some woman with that name had this phone number years ago before I got it. These people from CRA are rude, insolent, and crazed with anger. Does anyone know of a governmental agency which takes reports of this kind? Thank you.

Reading here that these stupid calls that I have not answered are from Plum Windows irritates me.  I answered one phone call from them a few weeks ago, ONCE, when they called me at work during the day, on my personal cell phone.  I told them not to call again, that I would get in trouble at work for personal phone call that turns out to be a stupid telemarketer call.  I also told them firmly to TAKE MY NUMBER OFF their lists.  If these additional calls are still from them, then I will have no choice but to go after them.  Anyone know the best way to get the Gov/authorities on them right away?  I'm open to all your experience or knowledge.  I'm fed up with the idiots!  (All of them!)

This is a rip off of the worst kind!  As far as rating this company, I put them right up there with the TRAVELERS! I don't know if they have moved up to Tempe now but I couldn't find their web-site for Tucson. I did find the address for their operation in Tempe, AZ.They put a flyer on my door and I called them, as I needed new windows and a patio door.  As I look back on this now, I had just had foot surgery, had trouble getting around, and was on pain medication.  My sister had just passed away, I was under a lot of stress, and it was not a good time for me to be doing this.  They were in a big hurry to set up an appointment, then called me back and said they were having this Eddie Flores come out because they wanted to use my house for advertising and I would get a Special Discount because of that fact.  Well he came out at about 1:30 - 2:00pm.  He just kept talking and talking about all the wonderful things they could do with my windows and patio doors, and how bad my windows and doors were.  How they would take the old ones completely out and reline the openings of the windows with insulation then re-frame and install these "Can't Be Beat, Energy Efficient Windows".  After 4-5 hours of listening to this, I am so sorry to say I fell for it, and signed a contract for an outrageous amount of money.  This was on a Thursday or Friday night.  I had until Monday at 12:00pm to cancel and get the cancellation to them, 130 miles away.I didn't do it, because it had to be sent by special delivery and all, and I didn’t know how to go about doing all that, and couldn’t get around that well and was told not to be driving.  But I did start calling them letting them know I didn't want to go through with this.  The one of the owners, who told me if I didn't go through with it, he would sue me!  So, I figured I have no recourse. He told me they had so much invested in my new windows already I couldn't back out.  That they had a big assembly plant set up in Tucson and were already assembling my windows.  Saying they were building them in their shop as we spoke.  I didn't know what I could do. I waited, 4 weeks.  Roseanne called and said my windows were in and they were coming to install them that next week.  I told her that I was having surgery on the day they wanted to put them in and she was not happy.  Then the next day she called me back and said my windows weren't on the shipment, so they wouldn't be out! I waited 2-3 more weeks and Roseanne called again.  Set up another appointment.  The installers came out and put one window in, so I could see it.  However, they didn't take out the framing on the outside of the window. Because they didn't do that they couldn't insulate around the window, as promised.  They didn’t install the new energy efficient framing that was going to keep out the heat and cold. I looked at the window they put in and I could have gone to Lowe's or Home Depot and ordered them, or ordered them on the Internet and had them shipped and installed for many thousands of dollars less.  It had all the stickers on it like it came from one of those stores; the kitchen window cost them $71.40.  When I called and complained, I was told that there was nothing wrong with my frames and they couldn't put anything better on there than what I had!The windows and the installation were not at all what was presented and promised.  Basically they didn't do anything other that take out the old windows and doors clean up the frame so they could insert the new, assembly line, nothing special ones, and paint the old frames.  The installers were nice and polite and tried to do what they could.  They did go to Home Depot and get some paint to paint the old frames to match the new window frame so it didn’t look so ridiculous.I can't tell you the amount of money I spent, because I'm so embarrassed about it. I was in the process of fixing up my home, and trying to do something positive, and get myself together again, as my husband had passed away a couple years ago.But after this experience, I’m thinking I’ll just hang on to it until the market breaks, then sell it, and go live with my kids like they keep asking me to.  There are too many vultures out there.

i've received a phone call from them everyday for the last two weeks. I'm always away from my phone and they don't leave a message. Custom View windows have called me, constantly over the year. I learned from one of my university professors that if you ask to be taken off of a telemarketting list, you can request a letter that they've taken you off. If they call again, you can sue! Please read this story from msnbc.com. Thanks for this website!

Yep this is custom view windows. They will tell you about special offers to upgrade your home windows and doors. If I ever want window upgrades I will not use these people, they won't leave me alone! Somehow they have my cell phone too. After multiple requests to be removed I start getting calls again 6 months later. If you really want to waste their time, schedule an appointment at the wrong house!
