Whoever it is, there were phone calls with no messages. The good news....I just tried to call this number and it has been disconnected. I'd still be very interested in who this is. I've received several of these calls since I stupidly signed up for a survey and free grocery coupons.

My husband and I both have posted above about this caller contacting our 13 year old daughter.  The calls didn't stop until we changed our phone number.  However, those of you who have seen him, I'd like a car make, model, license plate number - anything you'd be willing to share with me.
Report by LR from MT Long ago Unknown
Are you kidding me??  I am 63 years old.  This guy was calling me with all types of propositions.  I thought he was all talk and no action.  I gave him my number and my address.  He drove many miles to meet me.  Well,  he was action alright.  But not enough steam. He left too early.  So I called him back several days later.  About the third time I called him back, he got his damn number disconnected.  Does anyone know his new number?  This lad has unfinished business to take care of.  Let me know if anyone finds out.  Thanks!
Report by billokc Long ago Unknown
Wait a second here.....you let your 13 y/o daughter socialize with this guy? How old is he? Isn't 13 just a little young for a girl to be going on dates with a guy who's old enough to drive? She's not even through puberty yet. And you let this go on for over a year? Does she have some sort of attraction for (much) older guys or what? What's wrong with this picture?
Report by Brad from Oregon Long ago Unknown
This guy had been calling us for well over a year, mostly talking to my 13-year-old daughter.  He seemed nice so I went ahead and let him.  They talked late into the night and it seemed to make her happy so who was I to interfere?  But after he finally drove 100 miles here to meet her for the 5th time, that's when I drew the line and told him to quit calling.  I feel bad for messing up my daughter's fifth date with the guy, because he really was nice, but sometimes you just have to put your foot down.

Whoever the moron is, there were phone calls with no messages.  I believe this to be an unscrupulous caller.  I've had several of these calls ever since I stupidly entered a survey contest.  Don't ever do that and don't ever sign up for free grocery coupons.  The good news, I TRIED TO CALL THIS NUMBER AND IT HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED.  GOOD WORK !!

My friend in Black Creek B.C. got a call from this number. She immediately told him that she was not interested in telemarketers. He rudely says " Was I trying to sell you anything??" She again repeated she wasn't interested in telemarketers. He again says something like " Did I make a sales pitch at you??" She hung up and called the number back and was told " all circuits were busy". I finally stumbled upon your site and will pass along the information to her. Thanks for a valuable service.

Its a phishing scam, they want baking information. NEVER GIVE IT OUT! Instead, report the scam to http://www.publicsafety.gc.ca/prg/le/bs/phish-eng.aspx#report there are links on that site that tell you how to report it. Any information you can give them is helpful. And once again, NEVER GIVE OUT ANY INFORMATION!!! If its a company you deal with, they already have the information they need, and if they call you, they can verify with you and you can say if its right or wrong. Oh yea, and one more thing. For these scams, they have this technology that changes the number they call from, so even if they are calling from next door to you, the number on your call display can be really random, I got a call from an area code that was in Pakistan!!!! But they werent actually there. Its all a scam

My answering machine picked up.  No message left.  Aka a "silent call".The call display shows "INTERNAT'L CALL" which is unusual for Telemarketer calls that I receive (they typically show the name of one of 2 dozen US states).Anyway given that scammers can SPOOF (fake out) their caller id information, I pretty much expect that their use of "INTERNAT'L CALL" in the call display is just yet another lame attempt to try & get someone to pickup.  In fact it's just another lame attempt to obscure who they are.The 647 area code is in Ontario.I am reporting it to the CRTC.

I received a phone call at 5pm offering me a wonderful deal for Bell tv. It was $29/month for 60 channels, 15 HDTV, and 8 movie channels. I needed to give my bank account information. I refused to do this, and I was transferred to an even pushier manager who tried to get my bank account information or credit card number. He asked 5 times, and I said I did not have it. He then asked if I had any prepaid cards, like a Walmart card. I thought that was really weird. I told him I would get my husband to phone him tomorrow. He asked me when I would send my account information. I told him next week, and he was surprised. I said it would take a week to mail my cheque to him. And he said I could give that information over the phone. I told him I didn't want to do that, and he said he could get the address for me to mail him the cheque to verify my information (even though I was on the Government list he had with my name and address).Very strange call. I'm getting caller ID to prevent these things from happening again. NEVER give out your banking information over the phone.

Call came this morning from "Miguel" asking for Brad. I began by asking what company he worked for. Sounds like "Miguel" hung up. I called back later from a different number. Spoke with "Miguel" again. He answered the phone, "Bell." I confirmed that he meant "Bell Canada" and said his number appeared on my call display. "Miguel" said he had misdialed. I told him that I was calling from a different number than the one he had called previously. "Miguel" said that was a misdial as well: he'd been using the wrong list, he said.I asked "Miguel" if he worked for Bell, or for a 3rd party company contracted by Bell. He said it was a 3rd party company. I asked him three times to identify the company, and each time he said that it was against company policy to identify themselves. I am now awaiting a call from "Miguel's" supervisor, who was in an important meeting at the time of our discusssion.I have attempted to report this incident to Bell Canada. At first I called, and Jay, the customer service agent, took my name address and phone number "to verify the call." He then put me on hold. When he came back, he said I needed to go on the website and report the incident in writing. Jay promised the report would be taken seriously. I did that and got an email from Cecil, who wrote that I need to phone in with my complaint. I wrote back to Cecil that I have already done that, as well as reported the incident to the CRTC. I got a canned response back from Cecil with details about how to register for the national Do Not Call List.

This is a version of the you-have-committed-a-crime extortion scam and you are being... 1. charged with fraud or passing bad checks or embezzlement or 2. served with a court summons or arrest warrant or bench warrant or whatever or 3. located in preparation to being served or for a lawsuit or to be arrested or 4. whatever stupid crap reasons they will think up next. And you have to... 1. call back with your case number or 2. confirm your address or SSN or whatever so you can be served or your papers can be processed or 3. pay $895 now to avoid paying $5,000 in court or 4. whatever stupid crap reasons they will think up next. Beware extortion scams come in many flavors and they constantly evolve to stay one step ahead of the law. The FBI warns about payday loan extortion scams here http://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releases/paydayloanscam_120710 The BBB has issued several alerts on this scam, just google "bbb.org alert phony debt collector" Never do what they tell you to do but report them to the Internet Crime Complaint Center http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG, as appropriate.

You all might want to make sure who it is. I have NO dealings with Walgreens whatsoever, why would they be calling me from halfway across the country to remind me to refill prescriptions?  This is a perfect way to get information out of you.  Be careful!  To get automatic refills you need to sign up for them either at the pharmacy or on your online account.

You are correct. I called back the number since I missed the call, and it said "Thanks for calling Wal-greens reminder service", before I hung up. I am leary about such numbers, but after reading your statement here I tried it myself. Of course no big corporation will know all numbers from every state, and right up front they will tell you it is not theres' due to they do not want to thought of as someone harrassing them with phone calls. All you have to do is call back the number, AS I DID, and it does say wal-greens...sorry anyone not believing here, if you think it's a harrassing phone call, then you have already put your mind to what it is. If it is someone harrassing you, you do have several options too. Call the police make a report, call the phone company make a report, block the number if you can, or even call the number back to see who it is...I would hate to think that someone was after me and a lot of things were scams..

Maybe you've been scammed alot, most people have been scammed at least twice in their lives to varying degrees.  This IS Walgreens, it is a service, not a scam.  I just refilled my prescription that I am due to run out of soon (water retention during humid weather, no big deal, no street value type of medicine) using this automated service.  Yes, I had to enter my date of birth, but how did this recorded / automated voice know my first name and then asked for my date of birth to verify that I am me?  Does this 'scam app' just pull the correct, your correct, first name out of the air? After the verification, I was told that it was almost time to refill my prescription for (long funny sounding medical name), I entered the appropriate number to have this refilled for me.  Then, WOW!!!, this automated voice stated the Walgreens name AND the exact address of the Walgreens that I always use for my prescriptions.  Exact Address!  Now, realizing that computer/android/anytype of programming is ONLY as 'smart' as the person who programmed the code... I highly, let me restate that... I HIGHLY DOUBT that anyone who has in their 'information data base' my first name, date of birth and my phone number can get any deeply personal information.  They cannot get my SSN, my driver's license number, my mother's maiden name or the numbers off of my credit card or security number from the back of same said card. These are the items of information that one should NEVER give out over the phone or in public.  My husband declined to give the department of motor vehicles his SSN and he still received his license, albeit with an odd expression on the person who processed his forms when we moved to a another state.  More information is 'at risk' for stealing if you participate in online social networking media via computer or phone app.  A birth date, first name and phone number from Walgreens is not your threat.

Maybe soundbytes might be a good idea on this site? Since reporting a number to be legit doesn't mean a thing if it's used by someone with something as simple as the android apps out there allowing you to refect ANY phone number as your caller ID that you wish, then having a recording of the actual REAL call posted may help. Yeah, I'm sure someone could go as far as to dupe the voice too but having a sound byte attachment would greatly cut down the fraud... I would bet it would be at least as effective as this site is for posting legitimate numbers.

Good point. Just got the call. Pressed one to confirm it was me. Then when asked to enter my date of birth, hung up. Wasn't particularly taking the posturing that this was a scam, however: I can call any of you, should I have your phone number and have (402) 220-1100 show up on your caller ID. There are so many Android programs that do this. SPOOF PRO is one of them. I did it as a gag to a friend, as we play jokes on each other, I think it was the "we have reason to believe you may have been in sexual contant with someone who has contracted a serius sexually transmitted disease" or something like that. I used the number to a very well known place owned by,..well you get the point. He called me up and was freaking out saying what had happened and who he thought it was, calling this girl every name in the book, until I couldn't contain myself and lost it laughing and told him, taking him out of his misery. My POINT is that it is UNWISE to submit any personal information to ANY automated service that you are NOT AWARE of. The "out of state comments" have NO MERIT. Almost every fortune 500 and thousands more use certain locations for these types of calls etc. It's a cost approach economical decision. To have a auto dialer located in each city across the nation, lol... However you can have an auto dialer reflect the area code of the person's city but there are legal implication on that with the Corporation Commissions of each state and Federal Trade Commission on a federal level. I believe it's because it's something that presents a false sense of location under pretenses that would be considered unethical business practice. Let's shift gears again and visit another point. How many times have you called an 800# or EVEN a local number and been transferred (often unkowingly) to a person with a heavy accent, such as your cell phone carrier? These are the ever growing outsourced calls to countries like India, Phillipines, etc. Again you may have dialed the prefix of (619) if you live in San Diego but routed to India. The problem is you CANNOT decipher whether a call from an unkown number and out of your calling area legitimate when you answer the phone for the first time to one of these types of calls. And you cannot decipher that it is Illegitimate either, not until you know....lol, sort of a paradox. My rule of thumb is that I NEVER offer any personal information to a computer that ID's itself as your bank, your pharmacy your anything. It's not an intelligent idea at all on Walgreens part assuming that it is legitimate because again RIGHT NOW I can call any of you and your caller ID will reflect that number because I put it in there. That's available to ANYONE who uses ANDROID....JUST IMAGINE! It's a great service I'm sure for those who don't write there schedules down, keep a daily log, appointment book, use their phone to remind them, their computer or ANYTHING WHATSOEVER to remind them of a refill.... Yeah great service. But it's missing a huge number of people who think about identity theft. I am NOT talking about the area code. I'm talking about a computer asking for your information. YOU CANNOT ASK IT ANY QUESTIONS, CAN YOU? YOU CAN ONLY HAVE BLIND FAITH AND GIVE IT YOUR PERSONAL INFO. BAD BAD IDEA WALGREENS. Even banks put out these emails/memo's telling you that they would not EVER ask you for you full social security number over the phone and other info too sometimes and inform you NEVER to answer to anyone asking for that because it would NOT be them. Walgreens should have media at the store on the wall advertising their reminder service at the very least. ........LOL but then again, I can be that computer and get your personal info very easily and so can any average person. IT'S A MONEY THING FOLKS. YOU INCUR HUGE COSTS TO HAVE REAL PEOPLE CALLING VS COMPUTERS. BUT YOU SHOULD NEVER GIVE PERSONAL INFO TO COMP0UTERIZED SYSTEMS THAT CALL YOU..... PERIOD. IF I HAVEN'T MADE MYSELF CLEAR: LAST TIME: AGAIN, IT'S BECAUSE I CAN BECOME (402) 220-1100 IN ABOUT 10 SECONDS AND CALL YOU IF I HAVE YOUR NUMBER OR KNOW ANYONE'S NUMBER THAT USES WALGREENS PHARMACY.

I have an idea.  If your worried about scams and people Phishing numbers, why don't you do what is suggested by gov. groups, retailers and security experts since caller I.D. first came out.  If ya don't recognize a number, don't answer it or read the voice or text message-  They will quit calling or if they don't it won't matter cause you just hit dissconnect when you don't recognize the #.  Then we can all stop reading these posts, and you'll all have alot more free time on your hands to do something worthwhile

The temptation is to call and say "Why are you calling me" and they will try and get your name and they already have your phone number... Its a scam . In this day of identity theft they go to all extents to get information. Block the phone numbers as they come in... I have nothing to do with wallgreens yet multiple states have my prescription ready...SCAM  SCAM SCAM

What would anyone have to gain by impersenating Walgreens and leaving the message, "Hello this is Walgreens refill reminder service.  Your medications are ready to be refilled."  And that is the end of the message.  Unless there is some big conspiracy to trick me into refilling my blood pressure medicine, this is not a scam.  And they are correct as well!  I appreciate the service because it absolutely IS time for me to refill my medicine.  They don't ask for financial information.  They don't want a call back.  They are selling nothing.  This is a helpful service.  Back away from the pipe man.  THIS IS WALGREENS PRESCRIPTION REFILL REMINDER SERVICE.  And I appreciate the reminder!

13 Report Long ago Unknown
Legit collectors, per the FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf , *MUST* : 1. tell you who they are if you ask them but you *must* ask 2. send you paperwork within 5 days of initial contact which must include the $amount and the name of the creditor 3. take you to court if they threaten it (unless it's illegal to do so) and it's considered harassment and *ILLEGAL* if they threaten but then don't do it. Under "Validation of Debt" on pages 11 and 12, the FDCPA says the paperwork must inform consumers that they have 30 days to dispute the debt, and if consumers dispute the debt in writing *OR* ask in writing for the name of the original creditor and $amount, the collector must *CEASE* collection and send written verification of the debt to the consumer (might be original creditor paperwork showing your debt). What this means is *ALL* debt collectors *MUST* inform *AND* give alleged debtors the right to dispute, and collectors *CANNOT* just jump forward and take you to court without giving you the chance to dispute. If you didn't get the paperwork, it's likely an abusive-but-legit debt collector or scammer. If the collector claims he sent the paperwork, the paperwork has to come by certified mail so you have to sign for it for the collector to *prove* in court he actually sent it. If you didn't sign for it, the collector can't prove you didn't get it. If taken to court, motion the court for case dismissal because the collector failed to provide you proper written notice as required by the FDCPA and denied you the right to dispute. Please read through the FDCPA to defend yourself against abusive debt collectors. Real debtors need to understand that if you really get sued, you'd likely lose in court because the collector would make sure he's not going to lose on technicalities or look stupid in front of a judge. I believe a collector based in another state must be registered to do business (collect debt) in your state in order to collect debt from you. Check with your state licensing agency to see if this collector (if you knew who!) is licensed to collect in your state. Creditors also sell charged-off debts to others who'll try to collect. Charge-off means the creditor has given up on collecting but the debt's still alive and won't die until the statute of limitations http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/SOL-by-State.html runs out and even then some may still try to collect (low probability). The SOL does not prohibit collection attempts, it only says debtors don't have to pay and debtors must get proof it's time-barred to be safe. Read up on the FDCPA and learn your rights http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf and http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre18.shtm

Problem is, no one is reporting as having received paperwork per the FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf within 5 days of initial contact informing alleged debtors of the original creditor, $amount owed, and the right of alleged debtors to dispute the debt. Because this alleged collector is violating the FDCPA, I say this is a scammer and not a bona fide debt collector. If not a scammer, this debt collector had better send the required paperwork or else he will be treated like a scammer. I don't believe you got a subpoena. I think you're a shill for this scammer.
