Received the same type of call Today, 12/22/2010... Talked about American Collision and also about Layer & Chiropractic... When I asked how they got my number... She said she found the number from car accident reports... She is even willing to drive far where we live from Carrollton...We were involved in a car accident only 2 days back i.e. on 12/20/2010 and I am yet to see the insurance adjusters, etc.... Not sure who is selling the info what... Talked to Farmers Branch Police department and looks like you can not purchase the report until you know the name and report number...If any one taken the services from her, we like to know the entire experiences....Thanks... Happy HolidaysCaller ID: 972-537-7731Caller: Penna Michelle

I just got a call from this same number.  Didn't answer it because I didn't know the number.  The same Michelle Pena refered to below left me a message about a car accident I was in last week.  I wasn't in a car accident but she had my first and last name.  This is very concerning to me.  Does anyone know if these calls can be reported to someone?
Report by Tman Long ago Unknown
We were involved in an accident and received a call from her also. She gave us American Collision and the BBS rating. I looked it up and there is an American Collision & Restoration in Carrolton Tx:http://www.bbb.org/dallas/business-reviews/au ... 001527#adreviewI'm unsure at this time if they are one in the same though. She also said they have attorneys and chiropractors on staff.

My mom has a phone under my name and AT&T plan.  She rec'd the call from Michelle and provided me with 972-537-7731.  Stated she was with American Collision dallas.bbb.org.  Works for attorney, Juan Aguirre, out of Carrollton.  States he owns several chiropractic clinics as well.  Basically, a one-stop shop.

I got a voice mail here from Michelle.  Wanted to know if the person who hit us had the insurance adjustor come out yet.  She left no return number or company name.  We haven't been in an accident and are concerned something is going on.  I've called my agent and reported this.
Report by DK Long ago Unknown
My daughter just received the same message from Michelle. Same story, someone hit my daughter's vehicle, etc.  I called the number to see what would happen and the message was "This is Michelle with American Collison.  Please leave a message...", (which, of course, I didn't).  I'm curious as to how she got my daughter's cell phone number and first name.
Report by CD Long ago Unknown
I got a call from Michelle at this number on my alternate Sprint cell phone.  Don't know how they got that number.  I called Michelle back and she said that they were investigating an auto accident that someone with my name was involved in.  They did not have any info for the claim other than a name, so they were calling all of the people with my name to find out who that person was.  She asked me if I had been involved in a car accident in the last couple of weeks.  I told her "NO", and she said "thank you, sorry for bothering you".  I have not heard from them again.
Report by Todd Long ago Unknown
Same Michelle called me re: an accident that I was involved in as a passenger.  I was in no accident.  She also mentioned a Fredrick in her vmail.  I don't know any Fred's or Fredrick's.  I didn't return her call.
Report by Beth Long ago Unknown
Got a call December 30 from Michelle with claims department on my cell phone  saying the message was for my husband who was involved in an accident last week and wanted to know if the insurance company of the person who hit him had notified him.  My husband wasn't in an accident.  This is a call from Lewisville.  I think I will report Michelle to her service provider and to the Texas Attorney General's office and would advise anyone else to do the same if this happened to you.
Report by MBP98J Long ago Unknown
I work for an insurance company.  My customer called me saying she had received a call from Michelle at 972-537-7731 (asking for my customer by name) regarding an incident with her car.  She had no incident with her car.  So I called Michelle and told her what company I am with and asked why she was calling since there was no incident.  She said she must have dialed a wrong number.  I said "no, because you called her by name."  She said she is with a collision repair center but would not give me the name of it.  The third time I asked she gave me a name, but mumbled it.  I asked her to repeat it so I could write it down and she hung up on me.

Attorney finding out information from public records.  They buy all of the accident reports from a certain period of time and contact people attempting to initiate legal action on your behalf.  Those of you that are concerned that this is a bit fishy it is, they are ambulance chasing as far as I can tell.  However, it seems to be nothing more dangerous than someone trying to help people milk the system.  I actually talked with the person for a bit of time today and she is very nice, however misguided her intentions may be.  I cannot locate the name of the attorney she gave me however so I am skeptical that they are only giving out partial information from the standpoint of not being caught and charged with unethical activity(ambulance chasing)

Called me on my mother's cell phone (which is on my Sprint account)and asked for me by name.  She gave me the number to call back, but after seeing all this, I'm not calling.
Report by TX Long ago Unknown
I got the same message about claiming I was involved in an accident and they were calling from the collision department.  I called my insurance company and they did not show ANY claims made.  They told me not to call the number back since they were probably fishing for personal information.  Although the person keeps calling about once every couple of weeks and not leaving messages.
Report by Ron Long ago Unknown
I just got a strange call from them (Michelle Penna, according to my caller ID)regarding an accident I was in a few days ago.  They said they knew I was not at fault, although my Claims Investigaotr does not eve have that information yet.  Talk about false hope!  Very, very fishy, and U reported it to my insurance provider.  I called back and got her answering machine after about 7 rings.  I have no idea how she got my number.  Maybe DART is selling our phone numbers. Either way, I hope she's right!
Report by TX- Long ago Unknown
Recived the same call on 9/23/08 about being involed in accident, which I wasn't. Also this msg was left on all my Sprint cell phone numbers...What's going on here...? I have already placed a temporary fraud alert with the credit agencies due to someone from my mortgage company selling personal information...
Report by T Long ago Unknown
I was incorrect. The 509 number is legitimate as well as this number. Someone filed a false claim and listed me as being involved. Near the same time, someone tried to use my information to purchase a web domain in my name. Has anyone else had the same who has gotten a call from this collision center?
Report by T Long ago Unknown
I had the same call. Someone reported a collision with my vehicle. This was followed by a phone call from 509-321-0597 reporting that something had been charged to my credit card so I should call to confirm. Both callers used my first name, both left messages with no exact details.
Report by Ben Long ago Unknown
There was message left on my wife's cell phone, for me, about a collision in which I was involved.  Although her phone is in my name, I'm curious to find out how they actualy got that number.  I am investigating the information further.  Something IS fishy about this one.
Report by Concerned parent Long ago Unknown
Got a call on my cell phone from this number.  Said they are a collision claims center.  Asked for my son.  I told them he wasn't in a collison and he's two years old.  Something seems fishy.... Its not like my 2yr old is giving out my number.

Area codes no longer reliable indications of caller location (see "Area Codes, Now Divorced from their Areas," by Ian Urbina, The New York Times, October 1, 2004, http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/01/nyregion/01code.html?_r=0last accessed Feb. 27, 2013).  Also area codes and country codes can easily be spoofed.  Actually, it is extremely easy for almost anyone to get a Canadian number.  I am a U.S. citizen located in the U.S., but I can order a telephone number with a Canadian area code and have it up and running in (literally) three minutes or less.

Many of these calls are coming from Costa Rica and India and they are using spoofed (false) numbers, which in itself is illegal. They do cold calling for or sell the leads to numerous companies in this country and they all know that what they are doing is illegal. Tomorrow this same number may be selling Cruises, Timeshares or Security Systems but if you follow the money it usually ends up in the hands of an American LLC.Most of the inbound robo call numbers are spoofed, as most of the bolierhouses, both off and on shore, are using Voip SIP Trunks services. Throwaway DID numbers are also used. Some of the robocalling is operated by the end use scammers directly. Others are contract services who earn a referral fee once you are transferred to the scammers. The criminals behind this operation aren't going to pay attention to you asking to be removed from their list. Their calls cost them almost nothing and they make millions of them so they have no intention of ever removing someone. When you press a key to talk to them all that is accomplished is to verify that they have a working number.Unfortunately blowing an air horn or whistle doesn't work either. Their headset have noise dampeners plus they are expecting it. However with that said if it makes you feel better then by all means give it a shot. The banking system is also at fault here, without merchant accounts and ACH processing these criminals could not collect the scammed funds. Though the criminals use obfuscation, layered corporations, multiple bank accounts and offshore stashing, patterns of obvious fraudulent activity become apparent after a very short time. This is an all out attack from these scum sucking filthy pigs! EVERYONE should be reporting them everywhere that they can. Since this is an obvious attempt at identity theft and is interstate, the FBI should be forced to get involved. Charge them with a CRIMINAL offense and throw them in prison instead of the FCC saying 'Naughty - naughty, now go out and play nice'. (Prosecute them in criminal court instead of civil penalties). If you want to stop these calls then you need to dry up their revenue source. Your phone company is charging you a fee for Caller ID. Your phone company pays the scammer for sending their Caller ID information. Your phone company pays only a fraction of a cent per call and you pay your phone company to have the Caller ID displayed. The scammers send out millions of calls which amounts to a significant amount of money however your phone company is charging a large amount to millions of customers. This may have something to do with the phone companies inability to stop these calls. In order to stop this we need legislation making it illegal to charge for caller ID. If a phone service wishes to operate it would need to provide the Caller ID at no charge as part of the service. The FCC has temporarily halted 7 minor unprofitable boiler rooms who will receive a slap on the wrist and be back at it within a few days. Do not press 1 or any other numbers to get off the list and NEVER call them back2.    Consider blocking the number or on a cell phone add it to a contact list and assign NO ring tone3.    Report it at http://www.fcc.gov/complaints4.    Report it at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov5.    People should continually file complaints with their Attorney Generals office6.     Report any criminal activity to the FBI here:    https://tips.fbi.govThis is an all out attack from these scum sucking filthy pigs! (Prosecute them in criminal court instead of civil penalties).Register your phone numbers online at http://www.donotcall.gov or call (888) 382-1222 (must call from # you want removed). There is a blog site that has information on one of these operations:     http://telemarketerspam.wordpress.comPlease read the blog and report violations to the proper authorities.http://telemarketerspam.wordpress.com/2013/02/07/callerid4u-inc-moves-to-silence-critics-of-illicit-robocalls
